Put the name up for auction and bid it out every three years. Go with the highest bidder. Aside from giving everyone a shot at the name, it would allow a complete swap out of apparrel and other trinkets every three years. This would be in the spirit of modern professional sports. Should be a great hit.
Trademark is associated with USE of the mark or word. Whatever this guy thinks he has, I think he doesn’t.
The NFL franchise will seek out a word or name that isn’t used by some other sports team. Maybe do a fanciful name like the pharma companies do. The Washington Xunafici
