Herd immunity, or close to it, has almost gone throughout the USA. In fact it has been in NY and the Northeast for a while now. We just have maybe a month of elevated cases in Texas before it has to go down, just as it has gone down everywhere else. Seems like immunity comes in so many forms - antibodies, T cells, just being healthy, type O blood, previous colds caused by a different CV. So I no longer think that herd immunity formula indicating about 50% of the population needs to catch this. It is probably closer to 10% and then it fizzles out. Unfortunately that will not be enough to reduce the media panic.

They say it could be as high as 30% or more in New York. I still don’t know anyone who has gotten it.
But that has to be wrong.. more likely there must be people I know that got it but it was so weak they didn’t even get a sniffle.
And the vast majority of cases it’s just not that strong of a virus

You may have good reason. Maybe you really analyze the data and know something we don’t. To me it seems and is stated to be a virus with a half of 1% mortality rate and a very old average age of death.
Of course nobody wants anyone to die from it but we can’t sit in our houses and hide the rest of our lives
Not that I have much of a life LOL. But my brothers and sisters and nephews and nieces and cousins and their kids do.
And it’s been a long time since it’s been all about me :-)
So I must admit it was odd having people on home as much as I am for three months :-)
this virus could be a very good lesson learned. I am going to start getting out more and enjoying life

How do you explain the massive drop in cases and deaths in many locations, if it isn’t a near herd immunity situation?
The elephant in the room is that this virus is incredibly weak for the vast majority of the population. The mass hysteria over this garbage is the real disease. It has been very eye opening to see how incredibly irrational people are, including a fair percentage of panic pushing dopes on FR.
Where did you get those pictures of Governor Abbott?
LOL yeah to see conservatives so terrified is a little saddening. We shouldn’t fall for this stuff and our belief in God is supposed to give us more courage in the face of something like this.
But at least I know a dozen or so names here now that I would not want to be marching into battle with :-)

Here’s my timeline (an anecdotal reference):
- Exposed to Bay County “patient zero” on March 9.
- Developed mild symptoms of Upper Respiratory System Inflammation [URSI] (appearing as mild bronchitis) by March 18 as well as sinus inflammation.
- Immediately started once-daily antibacterial regimen, Tylenol, decongestant and “menthol/eucalyptus” therapy (Vicks Vapo-Rub) with plenty of rest. (Note: I have experienced seasonal bouts of bronchitis throughout my life).
- I isolated with only my wife in proximity.
- Cough and inflammation subsided by March 22.
- Consequently, I consider myself immune and non-contagious.
- My wife has had no indications of infection.
- My blood type is ‘O’-positive.

Honestly and luckily, I spent most of Obama’s administration recovering from a head injury and got to enjoy Trump’s presidency :-)
I see that virus mentioned here but I don’t even recall that happening and I don’t recall how bad it was.
By the way I see your name is Mom MD so I’m assuming you’re a doctor.
Please believe me that the 2-year time frame for getting better from a head injury is way off. Even six or seven years later some symptoms went away finally.
I still have residuals and always will but nothing remotely close to the beginning.
Some I honestly kept feeling worse the first two or three years.
