The actress, who most recently appeared opposite husband John Travolta in 'Gotti,' had been battling breast cancer for two years.
Kelly Preston, the actress who starred in such movies as Jerry Maguire and, most recently, opposite husband John Travolta in Gotti, has died. She was 57.
Preston died Sunday after a two-year battle with breast cancer, Travolta wrote on Instagram.

Yeah, I remember that now. That was in 2009. Hit his head after falling in bathtub due to a seizure.
I hope you can avoid stress now and in the future.
Prayers for your family. That’s rough.

Please realize that those who are researchers in cancer have all lost loved ones to this disease. Each cancer requires its own cure or treatment. Sometimes treatments work against more than one cancer, but not often. When I went into cancer detection nearly 50 years ago, childhood leukemia was pretty much a death sentence. Now more than 90% of children with leukemia go on to live long and productive lives.
Do not think there is a magic bullet against cancer. The BEST result comes from early detection. Get your mammograms, ladies. Get your PSA tests, gentlemen. Do what you can to be your own best advocate. If you have cancer in your heritage, do what you can to be screened for that, early and often. Best wishes to all.
Just had her first post chemo scan. Now we go again in six months. We have already beaten the odds by 80%. Every day is a gift.
For those who like Sci-Fi, one of Kelly Preston's first films was Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn.
May she rest in peace, and prayers to her family.
Prayers go out to her family and friends.
One of her early efforts. If you’re looking for an award winning production, this isn’t it. A low budget period piece. A few laughs.

Cancer is a very smart disease in that it mutates. Cure one form of it and it will mutate so you’re back to square one.
I have a close family member that is a cancer research scientist and I can assure you, they are trying very hard to cure cancer and they are nearly there, through gene therapy. I see people saying cancer isn’t cured because of money hungry industry and it just isn’t true.
He had an older girlfriend years ago, I believe her name was Diana Hyland. She died of cancer, in Travolta’s arms.
His son died after a seizure.
Diana Hyland. also died of breast cancer. when you gave me her name, I looked her up, and found the above article.
They had three children together over a span of many years, and were married for 28 years; yet you, most likely with no personal knowledge whatsoever, repeat ugly tabloid gossip on a memorial thread. Classy.
Interesting article. Thanks for posting.
One of her earliest movies I saw her in, “Mischief”, she was an absolute goddess (Google the unedited pics, you won’t be sorry, too risqué for FR). It’s a shame her most magnificent feature physically would be her killer years later. :-(
RIP. The world is a bit emptier without her.
Sorry to hear that. It must be very difficult. I believe in miracles, and many advances in treatment have been made. I pray your wife does well. I always worry about it returning, and I should cut down on carbs myself.
When someone dies, they automatically do not achieve secular sainthood. She was a beautiful woman and a talented actress, who was caught in a very weird marriage with a gay Scientologist.
I’m a sucker for a good kiss in a movie. Preston gives real smacker in the final scene from For the Love of the Game.

Their first movie came years before they got married, but it was a very fun movie, called “The Experts.”
Not a great movie, but a fun one.
I’m very sorry to hear of their loss.

R.I.P. Kelly.
Oh yeah...that's right. I forgot about that.
