Top infectious disease doctor Anthony Fauci, a key member of the White House coronavirus task force, said he thinks his reputation for speaking bluntly may be why he hasn't been on television as much recently.
In an interview with the Financial Times published Friday, Fauci acknowledged that he won't water down the truth and indicated that may be why his public appearances on behalf of the administration have decreased at a time when the president has sounded an optimistic tone about the crisis.
“I have a reputation, as you probably have figured out, of speaking the truth at all times and not sugar-coating things. And that may be one of the reasons why I haven’t been on television very much lately,” said Fauci, who serves as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

“The Flu is a Real and Present Issue”
Fauci says something the public should be paying more attention to, however, is the flu.
“The flu is a real and present issue that we are going through right now,” Fauci said. “We’re so used to every year having the seasonal flu that we sort of take it for granted. It’s part of life. And yet each year it kills from [30,000] to 79, 80,000 on our worst year.”
According to the CDC, there have been at 26 million reported flu cases this season, along with 250,000 hospitalizations and 14,000 deaths. Flu activity remains high in most states across the country.

One thing Fauci says will not protect you from getting sick is wearing a face mask.
“I think there’s this misperception that wearing a mask, even if you were in an area where there was transmission, is going to absolutely protect you,” Fauci said. “A mask is more appropriate for someone who is infected to prevent them from infecting someone else.”
Fauci says if you are concerned about getting a respiratory illness, you might want to avoid crowds, but right now that is not necessary in the United States if you are worried about catching COVID-19...

Even if what he says is true.....if he’s not in sink with the Administrations plans to open up this country, which is where we want to be and which it has to do, then there’s no reason for him to speak further. We need people to speak about opening up not close it down again and again.
When you lie half the time, and speak the truth half the time, it makes it easy for for rationalizing in the future. He’s such a hack.
Never trust somebody who can’t simply let their yes be yes and there no do no. If they try to have to convince you that they are telling the truth they usually are not.
Maybe he’s forgetting about his admission that he lied about masks. Yeah, it’s probably just a memory lapse.
