President Donald J. Trump will welcome President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador of the United Mexican States to the White House on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, as part of their continued partnership on trade, health, and other issues central to regional prosperity and security. The two leaders will recognize the historic United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) that entered into force on July 1, 2020, and their shared effort to ensure North America continues strengthening its economic ties while working to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

The USMCA is the largest, fairest, and most balanced trade agreement ever negotiated and contains innovative provisions to help increase global economic competitiveness as a region, grow the economy, and support American jobs, including those in manufacturing and agriculture. Additionally, the USMCA includes groundbreaking provisions to address digital trade, services, small business, and more, which will protect America’s competitive edge in technology and innovation.

Why has Mexico remained as a third world basket case? Having asked that question I checked out its Constitution. Sure enough, similar to its cousin the Soviet Constitution, it GUARANTEES all kinds of free stuff. Socialism fails. Always.

There are some parts that are much nicer than US’s largest Democrat-fun cities, where many Americans retiring to. See: San Miguel de Allende.

Good point. As the US becomes a third-world country, it will no longer be correct to make blanket-statement comparisons to other 3W countries. Probably lots of places in Mexico I’d rather be than in downtown San Francisco.

Plenty of towns in Mexico are much better to live in than the hell holes of Baltimore, Ferguson, Chicago, Detroit etc. And its only going to get worse in these Dem run cities.

I love Mexico, but don’t forget they had a socialist “revolution” there around the turn of the last century. That’s what’s led to their problems. Even the theoretically Conservative party bought into the socialist corruption and statist ideology. AMLO is a radical leftist but he was elected on an anti corruption ticket.

Trump is honest, AMLO is actually pretty honest about his goals, so this could be a good meeting.

I see little Justin was too scared to show up. His last meeting with Trump in London didn’t go too well.

AMLO is probably the best President Mexico has had in a long time, I know that isn’t saying much.

Too true. Fox, who was PAN (theoretically the conservative party) was the only world leader who didn’t send condolences to the US after 9/11. And he insulted and undermined Bush, who was very favorable to Mexico, time and time again.

Well, that’s just part of it. Corruption is ingrained in Latin American culture. Mexico should be a world-class country.

Corruption is an inevitable result of socialism. It is cheaper to buy off the official than to officially follow socialist law.

They don’t seem to be air conditioned. Must get stifling hot in the summer.

That’s a picture of the older district, not reflective of the modern living spaces available.
