Dick Van Dyke just paid tribute to Reiner ... calling him his idol. The legendary actor said Reiner had a "deeper understanding of the human condition" in a warm tribute. Carl Reiner, one of the most prolific entertainers in the history of show business has died ... TMZ has learned.
We're told Reiner died Monday night at his Beverly Hills home. We're told his family was with him when he passed.
Reiner was a producer. He was also a director. He was also an actor. He was also a Grammy winner. He won 9 Emmys in over 7 decades. He has more than 400 credits.

You guys just like to “hate” everyone who disagrees with you. You cannot even walk by a dead man without pissing on them. You don’t have to praise him...but you just cannot miss the opportunity.

I notice Reiner’s stuff was mostly crappy failures except for the DVK Show and his movies with Steve Martin.
Case in point, Lottsa Luck with Dom Deluise.
Just horrible. I hadn’t known it was Reiner’s show until he died and I was reading his credits.
In the pilot for what would become DVD, Reiner played the comedy writer main character. He had the good sense and humility to rework the concept bringing in Dick Van Dyke as the main character.
And you came here with the intention of writing that?

Reiner’s own stuff was never that good after the Dick van Dyke show.
He spawned a Meathead of a son.

I wish I hadn’t just learned that.
I knew about Meathead (how could you not) but was under the impression that Carl was at least apolitical. Boy, was I wrong.
For example. We hate you.
I did for sure. Not only do I not respect dead enemies, I glory in their death and wish it upon all those who are enemies of my country, my people, and me.
May they all drop dead and burn in hellfire forever.
It’s a shame he didn’t make a trip to the drugstore 73 years ago.
Oh believe me when a say there are people’s graves I can’t wait to piss on. Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi top my list ! Mitt Romney is another. John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell too.
