He was the character that sued Nathan Johnson, inventor of the OPTI GRAB, that made everybody cross eyed.

Carl was in about 30 movies.

He had the good sense and humility to rework the concept bringing in Dick Van Dyke as the main character.

Yes, which allowed him to also bring in Mary Tyler Moore as Rob's TV wife. She would not have been credible as Carl Reiner's wife. Casting was A-1 except Richie.

There are many who would not have been so funny without him.

That movie is fantastic. You should really watch Mel Brook’s Silent Movie too. It’s amazing how the format still works.
