By the way, remember that Black comedian who did a parody of Obama? He was asked to leave the stage because his shtick was "racist".
What I want to know is how can 30 Rock get away with Tracy Morgan playing a racist stereotype of an ignorant black man?
He's funny as hell, but seriously. He's a modern day version of Stepin Fetchit, Buckwheat and Mammy.
Certainly no flames from me. The show is damn funny. And besides, I would certainly hope freepers are opened minded enough to let people watch what they want without become scolds. I can dream after all....
30 Rock is one of my go to comedies, funny and quick. That being said, In one episode, Tina Frey’s character shoots a black man in the ass, I guess white on black comedic violence is ok, blackface not so much. And Jack is a great character.
Actual blackface of the Minstrel Show variety is rude. It’s a mockery. Great big red lips. Staring white eyes. It’s a caricature and I think it would simply be seen to be in bad taste. Not illegal. Not cause for violence or outrage. Just not funny.
But a white actor simply wearing makeup is not, to my mind, necessarily blackface. Lots of room to be amusing if they do it right. I’ve got no problem with a skit like that and I say screw the people who can’t take a joke.
And don’t forget the character “twofer”. Because he’s black AND went to Harvard....
I will never again watch anything that Alec Baldwin is in. Why is he still here? How many times he will move out of America if the wrong person elected to the WH? Plus, his foul mouth and giving shit to his daughter makes him a prick in my book.
Eventually every episode of all comedy shows will be pulled.
This is the new goal of the media powers to end streaming. All episodes will be pulled due to one group or another objecting to it.

Agreed. As much as I loathe his politics he is very funny as Jack, and I don’t see his character as a caricature of a conservative, as is all too common on shows like The Left Wing or or other steaming piles of leftist propaganda.
Does anybody remember any great comedians in the Soviet Union? How about Nazi Germany or Mao’s China? ..............

I also liked the show. Alec Baldwin as a conservative NBC suit was especially good, almost Trump-like in the role.
Update” As I have been binge watching the show I have come across several episodes that if Tina Fey were honest with herself she would pull as Racist.
Lesson here is, Liberals can write racist comedy along with stereotypes and get away with it, but Conservatives and others can’t.
