The Trump campaign announced Tuesday that Hogan Gidley is leaving his post at the White House and joining the campaign as national press secretary, beginning next month.
Gidley’s new role was previously held by Kayleigh McEnany, who left the campaign earlier this year to join the administration as White House press secretary.

The body of the article does not mention that he is replacing anyone, but rather taking over the job previously held by Kayleigh McEnany, who left the campaign earlier this year to join the administration as White House press secretary.
So we are talking about 2 different positions.

Read it again, carefully. McEnany left the campaign to move into the press secretary slot in the White House (where she is now skewering the press in briefings). Gidley is leaving the White House to fill her spot on the campaign.

That being said...I saw a pic of her with her baby daughter at work. My first thought was I doubt she will stay after the election if she even makes it that long. Motherhood is a powerful draw.
