Some Seattle police officers are concerned that disbanding the autonomous zone being occupied by protesters could turn violent. Since officers can't use pepper spray or tear gas to force people to disperse, some officers say their only course of action could be batons and firearms.
Two weeks after protesters cordoned off and occupied parts of Capitol Hill, now named the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP), Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan announced on Monday it would be disbanded. Officials didn't share a specific timeline for clearing the area and Durkan said the goal is to have people leave voluntarily.
But a Seattle police officer who spoke to Newsweek on the condition of anonymity, said protesters don't have to listen to law enforcement. The officer expected protesters won't be keen on vacating the area, potentially leaving officers with one option: to use force.
"We're no longer allowed to use things like tear gas and pepper spray. The only thing that we can use is our sidearms or our batons," the officer said. "...And we lose if we use force, it's gonna look ugly."

Nah, bring in the social workers.
just drop job applications on them.
I am confused. Why not use a V-MAD truck? A Vehicle Mounted Active Denial System stops riots without guns, batons, spray or gas.

3 ... 2 ... 1 ... Charge!
The mayor has to allow them to use tear gas and pepper spray to disperse this crowd of idiots. It is wrong to tie the hands of the police and then ask them to do this.
“Following criticism of officers’ use of tear gas and pepper spray during recent protests against police brutality, a federal judge issued a 14-day order banning the tactics.”
Judges have this kind of authority?
At the very beginning of this I was thinking about how the MOVE thing ended. But I’m guessing not - it’s not like they are all holed up in one area.
Now Kent State..... I hope not - that would be really bad. Although when the “protestors” have AKs, ARs and the tall buildings - it could turn into a shooting battle. Especially if the police can’t use gas, pepper spray, and the other non-lethal weapons.
How about the NIKA RIOT response!
.
Cowardly mayors are experts at ‘Walking Back’ such statements made by them.

WHAT TV star??
I think are in cahoots.
If this goes peacefully, IMO, its because an agreement was reached between the mayor and the CHOP, OR the dems/liberals/$oro$ have something else in the works that they are needed for.
Im going out on a limb here, but I think the autonomous zone thing did not pan out as expected, especially when nobody else let another one get set up.
I think they are going to drop back and punt, and wonder what is next on tap.
Prepping is continuing.
Where is the picture from?
Looking at the road signs, somewhere in Europe?
My first thought too. Looking at the trucks, especially with the covered rear wheels look foreign. I am thinking, looking at some of the soldiers it looks like they are wearing blue and red berets. I am leaning toward France right now. It did give me an idea to convert one of my 1/35 Russian airport fire trucks to anti riot mode with Russian police decals.
Seriously, surround them all and arrest them, shoot anyone who resists, and ship them off to Guantanamo. Once there, transfer many to Saudi Arabia. Let them live in tents in the desert.
They are revolutionaries, there is a Che, a Stalin, many Hitlers and for sure a Castro among them. Why suffer them to live? It is America or the punks, a time for choosing.
My 100# german shepherd wouldnt care for the foul taste of unwashed hippie... it would take cases of listed one to get her to bite one of them
