Prince Harry has backed the moves to ban Swing Low, Sweet Chariot from rugby games due to its association with slavery.
He has sung the rugby anthem many times since childhood and he is a fan and patron of the Rugby Football Union (RFU).
Prince Harry has signaled support for the RFUs review into the song, written by Wallace Willis, a freed Oklahoma slave, in light of the Black Lives Matter movement, The Sunday Times reported.
The anthem rings around the stands at Twickenham and is being reviewed by the RFU, which has launched a wide-ranging probe into racism.
Written by a black slave in the American South during the nineteenth century, the song was first belted out by supporters when two black wingers Martin Offiah and Chris Oti became sporting heroes on the pitch at the end of the 1980s.
Prince Harry follows Meghan Markles lead, as a close friend said that her instinct to leave the UK and move to California makes sense to her now.

Didn’t MeGain leave the UK because of racism (according to her)? So why didn’t she stay and fight racism there? The woman’s stories and “logic” never make a bit of sense.
“Prince Harry has backed the moves to ban Swing Low, Sweet Chariot...”
He’s going for the Guinness record for how many ways one person can be an idiot.
Almost 6,000 comments at the DM link and climbing. And the vast majority are not kind.
The Harkles have stepped in it again.
OK, two things:
First, months ago ago, I was looking for a bikini for my 65 year old gal, a true beauty, the love of my life for forty years and I clicked on a bikini ad.
Now any dailymail article is surrounded by constantly changing pics of gals in bikinis so it makes just reading an article difficult.
Second, somewhere between the bikini pics there was this:
“Written by a black slave in the American South during the nineteenth century, the song was first belted out by supporters when two black wingers - Martin Offiah and Chris Oti - became sporting heroes on the pitch at the end of the 1980s. “
I can say since it was the fans of two Black rugby players on THEIR team that it was meant as an appreciation for their efforts and talents and not derogatory in any way.
As noted somewhere else in the article between the bikini ads the crowd would only sing maybe the first stanza or two - in the context of the game I view it only as a welcoming sign of appreciation.
At 65 I simply view it as a vision I hope to see when I die, please swing low and take me home on a chariot.
The actual odds on that are probably `50-50 but I’m trying to improve those odds. ;-)
Why? How did Canada get so lucky?
A man who’s family built an empire from slavery. England still recognizing their family as royalty means England endorses slavery.
The UK has bigger problems than stupid songs. The UK is promoting the growth of a vicious, world-expansionist religious fanatic group that grooms and rapes children. It is prosecuting anyone who calls attention to that fact, and is allowing the grooming to continue.
And people doubt that he is Charles son. Hah! Dont need no stinkin DNA test!
He ain’t no prince any mo’.
If MeGain allies herself with BLM, which undoubtedly wants to smash the British monarchy and all monarchies to smithereens, won’t she have to renounce all the titles she holds courtesy of Halfwit and his family (HRH, duchess, countess and baroness)? Better get on that right away, MeGain.
It is also a Christian hymn. “Taking me back home” refer’s back to Heaven where we all come from and NOT back to Africa.
I read there was a Plantagenet descendant in Australia. I wonder if he would like a change of careers?
Yes there is. I remember seeing a show hosted by “Time Team’s” host Tony (Baldric) Robinson who interviewed him and provided a good explanation of his lineage.
Here is a link to the show: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britain%27s_Real_Monarch
