Cannot use 3g here by dec and no new devices permitted.
I checked. its there but it says to turn it on you have to finish installing the app. DAMN!! -android phone’s
Bkmk tracker CV19
How do I find Settings on my android
Interesting. I went looking, and found it on my phone’s “Google settings”. That may be what last night’s “urgent software upgrade” was about.
I dont understand what the app will accomplish. It would log when you come in close contact with another phone with the app turned on, but how would it know if the other phones owner had the virus?
Yesterday I got a notice on my phone that an app was being installed, but there was no new app in my list. Now I know why.
It seems to use Bluetooth, so keeping Bluetooth off would be a good idea when it and about.
Hard Reset GALAXY
.
Thanks
“Sane here”.
Me, too.
;)
I checked under Google and, by golly, there it was—#1 on the list!
Bluetooth turned off now!
See my #30.
Thanks for the info.
I use mine as a brick that makes the occasional phone calls.
No apps there. ;-)
When all the advertisements say “download this app”, I laugh at them. If they want my data they need to obey my motto:
“Pay me.”
Think presumptive association by locatiion. Say the Baptist Church in your town has diagnosed cases of the China Flu. You turned around in the church parking lot. Google tracking via your phone can now place you at the church and the nefarious powers that be can now assume you have been exposed to covid19, and force you into quarantine.
Ive got the tracker installed on my iPhone.
Its off
But now they have a new update Im supposed to install. I think Ill wait on that one.
Shoot, shovel & shut up. They never made that mistake again.
That's a joke, son unless you're over 65 then its "That's a joke Sir." ;-)
Android Samsung Galaxy S7 - Active - With a good case you can lean over and when it drops out of your shirt pocket its OK even hitting concrete.
I've got a stack of 5 pricey phones that cannot say that even a Sony Experion Z3 which matched the name of my car.
See some Bond film with Pierce Brosnan in Cuba for reference. Goldeneye - had to search.
Looks like this except it has tan color Ostrich leather seats - my daughter won't get in it. I don't go anywhere in it if its raining - blind spots with the top up.
I go to tools (gear) select apps (No search option) and scroll to google.
I've got:
Google
Google Pay (NOT ENABLED)
Google Play Movies & TV - Not tried
Google Play Music (Enabled - Everything you'd like to hear)
Google Text to speech - never used)
That's it.
Under "C"s eg Covid anything - nothing.
Show all services nothing under C or G or anything.
Searched phone & SD chip for Covid - Nothing.
Wife's up in NC with our daughter, grandbaby and her mom and she "says" she called me and texted me a couple of times with nothing - not even a ring tone during the outage.
She's on our daughter's service because T-Mobile sucks up there in the mountains but its google something.
BTW - I've selected no tracking from google but I get email reports every month outlining where I've been. My location "service" turns on all by itself - I only turn it on if I want maps. Sigh.
You have to volunteer to provide your covid status (waive your HIPAA rights).
Look for the gear icon, tap it, then scroll down. It’s under Google services and preferences.
It’s not about informing you.
It’s about keeping tabs on you.
My phone’s clean, but hubby’s has the clap.
I read it can be turned off, and ideally needs a tracking app to utilize the "backdoor", but I fully plan to ditch any and all smartphones when I retire... (shortly)
Spoke too soon.
Mine’s got the clap, too.
His and hers Faraday bags, if we don’t just leave the dang things at home.
