Smoking may offer some protection against the coronavirus, an Israeli study has found. The results support recent similar findings by researchers in France, China and Italy, although a British study has found the opposite.
Noting that conflicting reports exist regarding the impact of smoking on the likelihood of contracting the coronavirus, the Israeli team led by Dr. Ariel Israel undertook a population-based study pulling in data from over three million adult members of the Clalit Health Service, Israel's largest healthcare provider.
Their results, presented in a non-peer reviewed paper published in medRxiv on Friday, found that "the risk of infection by COVID-19 appears to be reduced by half among current smokers."

France had a similar finding several weeks ago.
That’s weird, because the main symptom and harmful part of COVID is respiratory problems, and tobacco has deleterious effects on the pulmonary system.
Humphrey Bogart may be dead, but he didn’t die from COVID-19. I’m just sayin’.
A couple months ago:
“Doctors at the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital in Paris observed that few Covid-19 patients hospitalized were smokers.”
I call BS on this one....
I’m pretty sure I went through Covid-19 (unconfirmed) in January, WHEN I was smoking... Had to quit immediately because I was coughing up blood.... I’m on Blood thinners now for a year due to blood clotting in my leg and lungs.
If anything, it makes you MORE vulnerable... my family most likely went through it as well (unknowingly), and they were all pretty much A-symptomatic.... non-smokers.
and I really do miss smoking!!!
Oh, if smoking is good, then tucking a little “snoose” between your cheek and lower jaw would be even better.....
Copenhagen for all! My uncles would be so pleased.
The nicotine would probably not be administered in the form of cigarettes.
I remember a Hercule Poirot story in which nicotine was used to poison someone's drink. The victim died almost immediately. Only a small amount was needed.
Today...this very day my 64 year old brother in law had his left leg amputated from the knee down. My wife is at the hospital with him now. The doctor told her it was from years and years of heavy smoking that caused plaque build up in his veins and damaged his muscles. He tried for three days to save his leg but said he could not.
Maybe it’s the Nicotine itself that provides any benefits.
Nicotine doesn’t need to be smoked in order to be absorbed into the system. I was on one of many ‘health kicks’ many years ago. I tried nicotine pills because I read that it may improve the memory.
I stopped taking those pills after a few days for this reason; the nicotine pills made my dreams
EXTREMELY VIVID. I didn’t like it. That side effect became somewhat disturbing. Those dreams remained in the front of my mind for many days. When I stopped the Nic pills, the vivid dreams stopped too.
Wait till the virus mutates to attack the smoker’s mutated cells!
Italy said the opposite.
Who knows what the truth is.
In the 1500’s is was thought to protect against the plague.
Its about helping block the docking stations because nicotine attaches to the Ace2 receptors.
It doesn’t mean smokers wont get Covid-19. This disease has so many variables in the body
Btw, Medcram has released a new video about High Fructose Corn Syrup and Vitamin D
Of course, there is an idiot Dr here who says Medcram and the Dr in the series have no credibility.
To that I say
BS
“Thats weird, because the main symptom and harmful part of COVID is respiratory problems, and tobacco has deleterious effects on the pulmonary system.”
Maybe smoker conditions mask virus symptoms.
Stick it up your nose. More effective.
“Nicotine doesnt need to be smoked in order to be absorbed into the system.”
For this I think you need an vapor delivery mode to get the toxins to the lungs.
The part that kills you is the thrombotic clotting that manifests mostly as a respiratory problem. The lung's alveoli get all filled up with clotted blood cells. It's also why people have heart attacks and kidney failure with Covid-19.
Nicotine seems to bind to Ace2 essentially preventing a "landing zone" for the virus. If the inoculum is low enough, your body will clear it before it becomes overwhelming.
btw, crucifer vegetables is what you want. so if you get covid 19 eat broccoli..but since you may feel like crap and not want to eat...you could try broccoli soup
