There are issues with law enforcement in this country for sure.

They have been turned into meter maids by communities that have even become dependent on the revenue. Shortening yellow lights to get more tickets... tickets, tickets, tickets...

There has been a general trend towards militarization: MRAPs, black uniforms, high and tight haircuts, military grade drones, every department/office with more than 12 officers needing a SWAT team and of course multi-cam uniforms and FAST helmets...

The idea of “policing” has gone lost somewhere along the way.

Frankly, some of the race baiting politicians are side stepping the real problems by making this into a shallow but for them politically expedient, race issue.

Sadly, most in law enforcement are very good people, but incidents like this turn them into the bad guys, and in America everything comes and goes in huge big fads or trends. NOTHING is measured/proportional, rational... So once the trend goes the other way, then cops become the bad guys no differently than soldiers in the 60s... America is only about extremes.

This case is not a reason to vilify police officers and claim there is a terrible problem with racist police in this country.

Totally agree.

The thing is, they aren’t blaming the police, they are blaming Trump voters.

The Leftist rage mobs have turned a single, isolated event into a giant Circus. They just needed an excuse to raise Hell and create mayhem and chaos, aided and abetted by cowering, cringing, and apologetic useful idiots.

I agree with all you’ve said.

Netflix has a movie called A Week in Watts. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s no surprise at all. Its about cops that mentor fatherless kids in the projects. They tutor, show up for important events, etc. It shreds the narrative being put forth right now. Trailer here...

The use of heavy handed arrest tactics during traffic stops and low level beefs are a problem since so many have health issues. But I can’t see how this will ever be meaningfully addressed. No matter what we do, it WILL happen again. The best practice is to comply. Unfortunately that simple message has been erased.

Serving warrants is an area that can use serious reform. Think Roger Stone. But the left won’t touch that because they’ll probably expand these tactics as backup for their Rapid Response Social Intervention Officers.

"... when someone is talking he CAN BREATHE ..."

I believe it is possible for a person to use their own muscles to resist pressure being applied to their neck long enough to say, "I can't breathe" and die minutes later because they cannot maintain the opposition to the pressure indefinitely. It was easy for the cop to maintain the pressure. Perhaps it was not so easy for the victim to resist the pressure for nearly nine minutes. Thus I conclude that the victim's statement does not invalidate the complaint.

Cops are under the same constraints as the rest of the population. That is, they are not justified in using more force than necessary to subdue a suspect. Consider the fact that an observing officer took the victim's pulse while the other officer still had a knee on the victim's neck. The combination of those two facts suggest to me that excess force was used.

Youre the first person to come out and say this on FR. The media is the leading platoon in the communist revolution. They are completely evil, supressing truth and speading lies. If we could get a coordinated effort to cut cable, turn off streaming, turn off facebook and other media by every conservative as a general strike, i think we might do some massive monetary damage to them. Would people take it seriously and do it for 5-7 days? Maybe repeat over and over?

Coukd we do it for a week?

I doubt we could do it for a day. But you have the right idea. We need to cut the financial throats of the people who are spreading the lies they spread for the purpose of manipulating elections.

To give an example, they painted Roy Moore in Alabama as a rapist child molester, and with no credible evidence to support it. The entire nation condemned him on the basis of crap claims but these claims got broadcast from sea to sea, and even resulted in many Republican public officials urging everyone to vote against him and vote for the Democrat.

Now Joe Biden has very credible claims supported by multiple witnesses that he sexually molested a woman, and the media is not giving him the Roy Moore treatment. His political allies are announcing that even if the accusations against him are true, they are going to vote for him anyways.

The Democrats know how to win. Our side doesn't. If the shoe was on the other foot with Republicans controlling mass communications, every piece of hardware carrying the communications traffic would get destroyed by their agents.

The larger story is how we go from a sad event in Minnesota to Marxist rebellion supported by a major party.

Which in a sense, would be a disaster because they’ll burn down the city after that verdict.

Minnesota has given its electoral votes to a single Republican presidential candidate in the last 60 years - Richard Nixon in his second term.

The snotty liberal holier-than-thou b*tch of the conservative Midwest has got this coming.

My crime seems to be refusing to say he’s guilty until a jury says so.

Let me be clear - I want the legal process to take its course, too. And there is no crime in saying that.

That said, as people smarter than me on this topic have said - Chaivin is basically incompetent at best.

I believe it's possible to simultaneously want the legal process to run its course, and already have personally adjudicated the accused. To wit: OJ is a murderer, President Clinton suborned perjury, Hillary's server was illegal, and Epstein didn't kill himself. Oh, and Springsteen sucks.

Thank you for an intelligent, reasonable comment based on the known facts. There are apparently three videos the authorities are not showing. The two body cam videos and the security cam video for Cup Market. As you commented, the body cam video may hold the clue why the officers’ took the actions they did.

However, there is another document that may shed some light on why the officers took the course of action they did. It is the Probable Cause statement in the original arrest warrant. In that document, the officers discussed the proper positioning for an excited delirium case.

If you do some research into excited delirium cases you will find that he proper course of action is for officers to secure the subject and wait medical assistance.

“Because prolonged struggle increases the chance of sudden death, officers should focus on the quickest possible restraint followed by sedation by EMS personnel.”

https://www.lexipol.com/resources/blog/understanding-excited-delirium-4-takeaways-for-law-enforcement-officers/

https://coronertalk.com/excited-delirium-death-police-custody

“This is not the person that you want to place unattended in the back of your squad car once he or she is controlled. If the subject goes on to have a problem, it is much better to have him in the back of an ambulance with EMS personnel in attendance. Your goal should be to have EMS stage away from the scene but arrive as soon as you have the subject controlled so he or she can be evaluated.”

https://www.policemag.com/339775/how-to-respond-to-excited-delirium

Now look at the photo in this article.

https://www.lawofficer.com/minneapolis-police-ban-chokeholds-not-used-in-the-incident/

Chauvin has his right knee on the ground, his left knee is on the back of Floyd’s neck, keeping Floyd’s head from moving. If you watch the video carefully, you will see Floyd raise his head a couple of times, lifting up Chauvin’s knee, so if appears that Chauvin does not have his whole weight on Floyd’s neck. The photo also shows Chauvin monitoring Floyd as he should while applying the neck restraint, and Chauvin has Floyd’s right arm, pulling it back so that Floyd is not in a complete prone position.

Then check the amount of Fentanyl in Floyd’s system.

https://www.hennepin.us/-/media/hennepinus/residents/public-safety/documents/Autopsy_2020-3700_Floyd.pdf?la=en&hash=1DD37B049B99FAE35949ADD1D04331BD45A86D01

With that amount of Fentanyl in mind look at this article.

https://www.acsh.org/news/2017/02/02/fentanyl-overdose-dont-count-naloxone-save-you-10822

An interesting thing is that the MSM is now referring to Floyd’s death, as he died in police custody instead of him being killed or murdered by Chauvin. Interesting isn’t it.

Thanks for the research and calm reason.

With regard to the exited delirium issue, it didn’t really manifest with Floyd until the arresting officer tried to put him in the back seat, presumably to take him to the drunk tank to sleep it off.

Well, that changed after the 6’-4” 225# Floyd decided he didn’t like that idea, and propelled himself through the car, and onto the street on the other side.

Chauvin seems to have very quickly figured out at that point that they were dealing with a medical emergency as well as a crime, and acted as he was trained: restrain the suspect and call for the paramedics.

I think that police work is the only trade where you can perform you job exactly as you were trained, in compliance with your employer’s policy manual and the law, and then get blamed for any bad outcome that might come about as a result.

Two things:

2. It’s possible O.J. was covering for his son.

There are other ways to control someone in cuffs than kneeing on his neck.
