There are issues with law enforcement in this country for sure.
They have been turned into meter maids by communities that have even become dependent on the revenue. Shortening yellow lights to get more tickets... tickets, tickets, tickets...
There has been a general trend towards militarization: MRAPs, black uniforms, high and tight haircuts, military grade drones, every department/office with more than 12 officers needing a SWAT team and of course multi-cam uniforms and FAST helmets...
The idea of “policing” has gone lost somewhere along the way.
Frankly, some of the race baiting politicians are side stepping the real problems by making this into a shallow but for them politically expedient, race issue.
Sadly, most in law enforcement are very good people, but incidents like this turn them into the bad guys, and in America everything comes and goes in huge big fads or trends. NOTHING is measured/proportional, rational... So once the trend goes the other way, then cops become the bad guys no differently than soldiers in the 60s... America is only about extremes.
I agree with all you’ve said.
Netflix has a movie called A Week in Watts. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s no surprise at all. Its about cops that mentor fatherless kids in the projects. They tutor, show up for important events, etc. It shreds the narrative being put forth right now. Trailer here...

The use of heavy handed arrest tactics during traffic stops and low level beefs are a problem since so many have health issues. But I can’t see how this will ever be meaningfully addressed. No matter what we do, it WILL happen again. The best practice is to comply. Unfortunately that simple message has been erased.
Serving warrants is an area that can use serious reform. Think Roger Stone. But the left won’t touch that because they’ll probably expand these tactics as backup for their Rapid Response Social Intervention Officers.
