Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley on Thursday expressed regret for accompanying President Trump during a photo-op last week at Lafayette Square amid protests, calling the decision a mistake in the latest sign of friction between the White House and the military over the response to racial unrest.
Milley made the remarks during a remote video speech to graduates at National Defense University, advising young officers to always maintain a keen sense of situational awareness.
As senior leaders, everything you do will be closely watched, he said. And I am not immune. As many of you saw, the result of the photograph of me at Lafayette Square last week. That sparked a national debate about the role of the military in civil society, Milley continued. I should not have been there. My presence in that moment and in that environment created a perception of the military involved in domestic politics.
He added: As a commissioned uniformed officer, it was a mistake that I have learned from, and I sincerely hope we all can learn from it.

You didn’t take a knee Milley. You just don’t get it.
Another coward general.
We are advancing towards the American Khmer Rouge. The only question remaining is when does this advance to past public denunciations and into killing fields.
They are revealing themselves as leftist activists. That guy at West Point with the "communism will win" would probably be a general now if not for the bad PR he got.
He’s admitting that he has bad judgement.
Fire him, today.
He’s learned from it, but he hasn’t learned to resign?
Is there no end to the line of traitors who surround the President?
(Rhetorical)
What an idiot.
Purge the leftists. I don’t mean him I mean the leftists criticizing him.
The president was standing up to an insurrection.
This is getting completely crazy. But, that means that moderates have a choice to make.
It the November election doesn’t rectify this then this nation is toast. Frankly, I suspect it already is.
He says his presence in the Park involved him in politics.
Gee, this statement doesn’t?
I’m getting real tired of treasonous, disloyal brass, giving aid and comfort to our enemies, foreign and domestic.
Silly Milley wet his willie to ingratiate himself with Biden and the Dems, hoping to get a job polishing Joe’s knob.
Pukinn’ here, spewing chunks.
His weasel words are designed to be the big story today, eclipsing the President’s event.
Obama’s mass firing of generals has consequences.
The West Pointers hardly representative of the troops themselves. Most are clowns who couldn’t win a battle with their own wives.
@0+ years of abject failure against a group of unorganized goat herders in the ME shows us they are incompetents.
They are Obama Generals. Pussies like Obama.

That’s why I said the generals would probably issue the orders and that the west point commie would have risen fast in the Pentagon. The troops are a different matter.
Remember the purge during the Obamanation? They sent the message loud and clear: only fellow travelers would survive to become the next generation of flag-rank officers.
Out, out
I’ve said this before.
In the 37+ years of working in the defense industry & the DOD I was always amazed at the number of leftist officers I met. Of those leftists the spectrum runs from anarchists to a Trotskyite socialist.(How did these people get DOD TS clearances ??) All flavors in between! (Note not including blue collar origin old line democrats! )
