Protesters tore down a statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis along Richmond, Virginia’s famed Monument Avenue on Wednesday night.
The statue in the former capital of the Confederacy was toppled shortly before 11 p.m., news outlets reported.
Richmond police were on the scene and videos on social media showed the monument being towed away as a crowd cheered.
About 80 miles (130 kilometers) away, protesters in Portsmouth beheaded and then pulled down four statues that were part of a Confederate monument on Wednesday, according to media outlets.
Efforts to tear one of the statues down began around 8:20 p.m., but the rope they were using snapped, The Virginian-Pilot reported. …

If anyone tried to pull down a statue of Martin Luther King, or Obama, would police simply stand idly by????? How are decisions made about when to defend public property against the criminal element?

There’s still the Guarantee Clause of the Constitution in Article 4 Section 4. The federal government has the obligation to guarantee a republican form of government to the states, not a socialistic one and certainly not anarchy; and per the same clause to defend against invasion and/or “domestic violence”. And it wouldn’t be hard work to start at once. So this is not a right reserved to the states.

All the police had to do was cut up that rope. Strong ropes are expensive and not easily found.
I can't believe those watching it happen. The girls are screaming with glee. I think it is a rite of spring where the guys are proving themselves to the girls. They could care less about our history. All they want is a easy piece of *$$.
