A former national surrogate for Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., ripped into white congressional Democrats on Monday after they wore African-patterned garb and knelt in a demonstration against racism and police brutality.
"I still can’t wrap my mind around the fact that they draped these white people in kente cloth to 'honor' him. This has to be hell," author Frederick Joseph tweeted, also arguing that black Americans are "being pandered to, and ultimately, disrespected."
In a tweet thread, he argued that Democrats were failing in their attempts to be helpful amid ongoing strife surrounding George Floyd's death.
He specifically took aim at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., who joined other Democrats in kneeling inside of the Capitol Visitor Center on Thursday. Democratic members of both the House and Senate knelt for 8 minutes and 46 seconds to honor Floyd, representing the amount of time he was pinned down by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.

"This is a mess," Joseph said in one tweet. In another, he added: "If anyone can’t understand why Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and them dressed up like they’re trying to sneak into Wakanda is disrespectful and appropriative you have a great deal to learn." Wakanda is the fictional land in Africa associated with the Marvel superhero Black Panther.

What if everybody — red, yellow, black, and white — began self-identifying as African-American, wearing kente cloth, and growing dreadlocks? Serious question.

Those are pretty bad statistics actually. Black population is 14 percent and white is 71 percent. Blacks were killed by at least 11 percent more often.

Did they mention afterwards that the white congressional Democrats had a fried chicken and watermelon buffet after the photo op, to show solidarity with black people?

In truth, the goofy Star Trek plots seem tame compared to today’s events.
I take an opposite view of this photo stunt. To me, this represents them agreeing with the policeman because they are mimicking his actions, so what he did must be the proper thing to do.
Agree, if they were showing solidarity with Floyd they would be laying on the ground with a staffer placing their knee on the neck. LOL

Exactly, but even if that is what killed him, I doubt they are they going to release that info. I heard today the “knee cop” is married to an Asian woman besides his cop partner being Asian. More proof that the guy isn’t racist, to me it’s more likely he lost his marbles from stress, cop suicides are through the roof ever since the B.Hussein caliphate declared war on them and to me this dude looked like he was about to explode. But the left wants us to believe he is a white KKK guy who intentionally killed a black man while knowing full well he was being videotaped.
Either way he is toast. He is going to be drawn and quartered while the race hounds will be let totally off the hook. I was reading the paper yesterday all the mom and pop stores who lost everything, people who invested 40 years of their life running a small jewelry shop completely destroyed and robbed and meanwhile fat pigs like Oprah the billionaire is holding a town hall meeting on police racism further fanning the flames which will further incite the thugs but God forbid she should be held accountable.
it’s controversial in two different ways.
First, it’s a ceremonial pattern and so cultural appropriation. (On the other hand, the patterns could also be considered the African equivalent of a Confederate Flag for reasons stated below.)
Second, the Ashanti have never been enslaved. Along with Nigerian tribes, the Ashanti became the largest holders and traders of slaves, gold and ivory on the Gold Coast. And, like the Nigerians who had over 2 million (internal) slaves in the late 1800’s, the Ashanti kingdoms had similar enslaved populations (combined, the most slaves in the world at the time). To use their ceremonial patterns as a stand-in for a people descended from slaves could be considered a huge insult.

Every week they fall further down the rabbit hole of insanity. At this rate I predict they’ll be eating their own feces by the election claiming it protects them from racism.
I just assumed they were doing the “take a knee” like the Kaepernick jerk or the cops and others who have been kneeling before the protesters. It surely wasn’t “take a knee” to resemble what our military does when they get a break...There couldn’t be a single one in that photo or elsewhere in the dem roster in the House who would even be familiar with that. How did we ever deserve such a motley crew running our country?
Someone good at Photoshop is probably working on that right now.
