So grandma recently bought a Smith & Wesson Model 60 - 3 to take care of the mice problem in the kitchen. Shes looking for recommendations on a good conceal carry holster.
Pulling the piece from her apron pocket takes too much time. Besides, she keeps her pipe in that pocket and doesnt want to pull out the wrong tool when the mice are running. Probably something in an open top design would do the trick, as the mice are quick and run away fast when they see her go for the revolver.
Any recommendation for manufacturers of holsters would be appreciated. Grandma thanks you for your time and will give you a jimmy sprinkle cupcake and cup of coffee should you drop in for a visit.
No offense but I wouldn’t visit your grandmother unless I had my hat in my hands, my hands in PLAIN sight, and a completely cheerful disposition.
The grandma bit is weak.
If you’re not a mouse, you have nothing to fear.
I have a Smith & Wesson Model 60 1.875 inches .357. It’s a great mouse gun; the critters are unlikely to run far after a hit to the body. I’m afraid I can no longer read the label on my dad’s old pocket holster, so I’m not much help.
I would advise that Grandma practice drawing from any holster. I practice several times a day. Whenever I close my bathroom door, I draw and then re-holster (a much slower process) whatever mouse gun I may be carrying before taking care of business. I have no fondness for vermin that spread disease and other issues, and I want to make sure I can deal with pests before they spread rabies or other unwanted conditions.
Maybe she can knit one?
Not certain about the 60/3” specifically, but I really love me Blackhawk sort or SERPA holsters. Can be belt worn or paddle, I prefer the paddle for easy on/off. Grandma may need a good belt though.
The sport me del is friction retention and can require a bit of sturdiness regarding belt/ holster and body interface, while the SERPA while having a friction adjustment, can be tuned to rely solely on the release lock. A simple press with shooting index finger releases the weapon and easy draw from there. Both can be tilted fire/aft to accommodate pretty much all preferences. Can be adjusted for belts from 1” to 2”.
Not expensive but we’ll worth the $30-65.
Watch out for those kitchen mice, I hear that they charge when wounded or cornered... .
Check out MASC holsters on Amazon. VERY similar to the much more expensive Galco holsters. MASC is Turkish. Galco is American. However, Galco has been price gouging. A simple $120 Miami Classic that was $120 is now $290. MASC, $120 as expected.

Maybe Grandma could go Mexican carry?
This isn’t an English literary class.
Did she cut off their tail with a carving knife?
Thank you, sir knight.
Will do. Thanks.
First off, I would suggest changing weapons. It sounds like a S&W 500 is more her style. Then get a holster.
Gunning for that reindeer is she?
Check out purse holsters. I have known quite a few women cops who carry that way, and one even killed a robbery suspect at an ATM, shooting through the purse.
“Maybe she can knit one?”
Unfortunately, she lost her knitting needles in a boating accident.
Her life as a canoneer with the Polish Winged Hussars ended some time ago, but thanks for the suggestion.
