Authorities use Krispy Kreme Doughnuts to Capture Bear
WLSAM ^ | May 28, 2020

Apparently, cops don’t love doughnuts just because they taste good; but also because they make effective tools in protecting the public.

For proof of this, look no further than Fort Myers, Florida. That’s where animal control officers saved helpless citizens from a menacing bear with nothing more than a box of Krispy Kremes. After a young 250-pound bear was spotted wandering through the streets of Fort Myers Tuesday morning, officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were called out to tranquilize it, says Officer Adam Brown. However, because tranquilizers usually don’t take effect right away, they felt using the gun wasn’t their best option. “When we use a tranquilizer, the bear sometimes will run away, and we didn’t want to take any chance of it running into traffic or the residential area,” Brown says.

So officers decided to go with their secret weapon: Krispy Kreme doughnuts. After putting a dozen in a trap, it took only moments for the bear to take the bait, Brown says. The bear was then loaded into a vehicle and taken to a state-managed wildlife area, according to Brown. Not that the bear cared; it was too busy chowing down on Krispy Kremes.

They had to release the three policemen they caught by accident before the bear came along, reports say.

Now that is funny!!!! Reminds me of when I tried to trap raccoons that were causing trouble around my house. Caught my stupid tom cat three times before I gave up!!!

What’s with that. Are the bears too refined for Little Debbie?

Oh, I see. Just because it was a black bear it was assumed it like Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Bunch of racists.

The fact that it worked notwithstanding.

Dunkin' Donuts have gone WAY down hill. Most of them ship frozen doughnuts in from a factory. Two tel-tale signs, absence of the original Dunkin' Donut with the built in handle, and simply awful French Crullers, that don't take well to freezing.

Just like charbucks.

Give me an old-fashioned Dunkin’ glaze donut any day!

KKs are junk (and tiny).

Cake mix is good. In my experience they prefer garbage. Maybe that’s a comment on my diet, or how I store foodstuff when in bear country. But garbage, a favorite. That’s what I’d bait the trap with.
