My great-uncle, 1st LT Albert Jacob Johnson, KIA 5/24/45 in Burma.
Albert, the son of two Swedish immigrants, played for the Green Bay Packers for a time. He was doing some sort of football camp in Hawaii when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He left his football career, joined the Army Air Corps and became a fighter pilot. I don’t know how to post a pic, otherwise I would accompany this post with a pic.
May each of our departed comrades in arms rest eternally in the sheltering arms of THE SAVIOR.
Yours, TMN78247
Thank you, for sharing the story. All will be remembered.
I would ask all of you to remember in your prayers LCpl Jimmy McMurdo killed when his CAP unit was overrun in June 1967 and Lt. Spivey shot by a sniper about the same time and Maj Larry Bagwell, killed in a training crash near Black Star mountain in California in 1968 and Lt Bob Trigalet, killed when his helicopter collided with another helicopter over the DMZ in 1969.
They were friends of mine and I miss them.
Thanks for posting. (Prayer)
