He was at a crossroads, his life stretching out before him, his troubles largely behind him. He had enrolled at South Georgia Technical College, preparing to become an electrician, just like his uncles. But first, he decided, he would take a break. College could wait until the fall.
To help keep his head clear, he ran, just about every day. Off hed go, out of the doors of his mothers house, down the long street toward Fancy Bluff Road. Then would come the right turn onto the two-lane road lined by oak trees draped with Spanish moss.
About a mile and a half into his usual route, Ahmaud Arbery would cross the four lanes of Jekyll Island Causeway into the subdivision of Satilla Shores.
Three months ago, at the age of 25, he ran through Satilla Shores for the final time.
*snip*
Before Arberys name joined a litany of hashtags bearing young black mens names, he was a skinny kid whose dreams of an NFL career didnt pan out. Those who knew him speak of a seemingly bottomless reservoir of kindness he used to encourage others, of an easy smile and infectious laughter that could lighten just about any situation.
They also acknowledge the legal troubles that cropped up after high school five years of probation for carrying a gun onto the high school campus in 2013, a year after graduation, and shoplifting from a Walmart store in 2017, a charge that extended that probation up until the time of his death.

That’s exactly the point. I don’t see a need to cross I95.
Then what did this mean? From looking at the map he would have had to run alongside the four lane highway, I95.
He’s no where near I95.
He had to cross the river to get to Sattila Shores from Brunswick. Sattila Shores is not part of Brunswick. He had a couple of bridges he could have crossed. The article mentioned I95 which doesn’t make sense to me.
Truly shocking if I'm reading that right... You mean those white racists SOBs of Satilla Shores made poor robbers, rapists and housebreakers dodge in and out of four lanes of busy freeway traffic instead of just building them a nice life-saving pedestrian crossing?
Getting chased by the locals is an eventuality if you insist on being a thief who comes around people's houses at night.
Now clearly you are the sort of person that doesn't mind some violent criminal walking in between you and your neighbors houses at night, but this behavior leaves a lot of other people uncomfortable, and most normal people would not want to put up with it.
Oh, and the "authorities" were not handling the situation. Do they ever?
And let's not forget copper plumbing fixtures...bathroom,kitchen,heating system.
At nighttime? Over and over again at night?
If the owners were concerned they could hire security.
It's why the owner installed the camera system to notify him when someone went into the house. It's why the detective looking into the case told the owner to call Greg McMichael who was a retired law enforcement officer and lived in the neighborhood.
The article mentioned I95 which doesn’t make sense to me.Where? I don't see any mention of it.
To help keep his head clear, he burgled, just about every day.
How about if he stole one of your handguns? Is that sufficiently serious enough to treat the man seriously?
Except he didn't. We have video of him slowly walking up to the house. Stopping at the driveway, looking around to see if anyone was watching him, then running into the garage like the devil was after him.
That video alone shows he was up to no good, and he wasn't "running" until he ran into the house from the street, and then ran away from the house when the neighbor approached.
He was walking.
“Hed also be alive if local idiots didnt chase after him with loaded guns like the wild west, but let the authorities handle the situation.”
************************************************************
I seriously doubt they had any ideas about killing him.
I had the occasion of pointing a loaded gun at a couple of guys (1 black & 1 white) outside my house one night in the belief/expectation that a gun being pointed at them would make them controllable while I called 911. In my case, I was wrong, instead they fled and I just stood there screaming “stop”.
When I was holding the gun, the last thing in my mind was that one of them would charge at me and try to take the gun. But, after the Arbery situation I have had a lot of time to contemplate what can happen, and the fact is I really do not know what I would have done had one of them tried to take my gun. I am sure I would have been terrified to suddenly realize my life was now in danger with the sudden realization I was about to be shot.
In my situation, I like to think I would have shot first, in order to save my life, but I really do not know because the last thing you expect is to be challenged by someone who is unarmed. And, in the event I had to pull the trigger (to save my life) because a “stupid” individual tried to take the gun, I might have been charged with some sort of felony. After all these people were doing noting but standing on my property.
The most interesting thing to note here is the presidents reaction and as well as the medias reaction to this white guy kills black guy narrative versus in the time of Barry Hussein Obama
If we remember back to that horrible time Where Obama was president - any and all times when a black dude was killed either by Cops or by a white dude , President Obama himself word fan the flames and jump up and down and say see ! the kid looked like me Coukd have been my son. or any of other things
Remember the cop acted stupidly . in order to try to fan racial flames
And remember all the Islamic mass occurs that occurred during Obama? That one in San Bernardino in particular were that super strange bizarre couple when it shut up all those poor people in the disability office?
Notice how we havent had one of those Muslim incidents during trumps first four years?
OK but getting back to the poor black kid who has gone down by these white dudes
and it does look like it was a set up
and they did video the whole thing
OK its been a month . the kids still dead
and now were going to have a trial! yes boys and girls a fair trial ! of these white dudes and theyll probably get convicted
and whats the media gonna do with that?
My point here is the giant difference between having a real president that cares about people , and is not looking to fan racial flames ; our wonderful president Donald J Trump !
and that loser piece of shit Barry Obama - who took every opportunity that he could every second of every day, and including that speech he gave the other day ; to fan racial flames!!!
You’re correct. I’m confused. He had to have crossed a bridge to go to Satilla Shores. I-95 is six lanes past Brunswick.
So I95 is out. That leaves the Lanier Bridge ... maybe. The Jekyll Hyde is throwing me off.
How about if he stole one of your handguns?
When did the police find the stolen handgun?
Was it on Arbury when he was killed?
Was the gun found in Arburys house or car?
Will the defense present the stolen gun as evidence in the trials?
Your claim that it is "only the owners business" falls apart with the fact that the surveillance videos were shared with neighbors in an attempt to find out the identity of individuals in the videos.
That is how it should be. My wife looked out of a back window of our house and saw a man who was obviously camping out on the back deck of the unoccupied house behind us. I called the police and they later told me the man lived up the street from us an had not wanted to go home for some reason. The police officers knew the man from previous contacts.
> How about if he stole one of your handguns? Is that sufficiently serious enough to treat the man seriously? <
Now, thats an interesting hypothetical. I want to say no, its not worth the chase, and a possible gunfight at the end. Id rather the police handle such a situation.
I want to say that Id save a chase for when great bodily harm was done (or was threatened). And its not a matter of being timid. Its a risk/reward kind of thing, like in poker. Take the risk if the reward is great enough.
And in the Arbery case, the reward (catching a petty thief) was not worth the risk of gunplay. Thats just my opinion. I understand that good people might disagree with that.
Side note to the Feds: Please note that I said hypothetical above. All of my guns were lost in a tragic boating accident years ago on Lake Titicaca.
.
Yes, and CNN "logic" will tell you the cause must therefore be racism somehow.
> Remember the cop acted stupidly . in order to try to fan racial flames <
I saw one ray of hope when Obama was first elected. He was perfectly positioned to heal the racial divide. And then when he made the above comment, I knew he had chosen the low road.
It is a great pity.
Actually, the worst thing he did that day was attack a guy holding a loaded shotgun. Whether the other two were right or wrong in trying to confront him, as soon as he attacked the guy with the gun, it became a life or death matter.
