Memorial Day activities, gatherings and parades may not be possible in your area due to the Coronavirus shutdown. We can still display the U.S. flag and honor the fallen at cemeteries. Two of my favorites films are The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) starring Fredric March, Dana Andrews, Teresa Wright and Harold Russell and The Bridges at Toko-Ri (1953) with William Holden and Grace Kelly. The he Bridges at Toko-Ri ends with the memorable line, Where do we get such men?
What patriotic films do you enjoy watching?
+1 for The Bridges at Toko-Ri.
Midway including the latest version.
Richard Jewell is surprisingly good.
Battle Ground and Pacific. I knew men and worked with them that did the things in those movies. They told me in 1971 not to go, I went Navy anyway. The things that they told me rang true through my time. Bless them and their families. The young people serving now are great people. Ill say prayer for all. Great boys and girls going in harms way.

Yes indeed— remember our daily dwindling numbers of WWII Veterans from any theater of that war.
Cried with my wife to watch Pres.Trump and Melania lay a wreath on V-E Day at the World War II Memorial. There was a line of WWII Veterans (a few, and one in particular who was wearing a Paratrooper uniform from Normandy!) whom Trump saluted and they saluted back.
You could see how Trump (and they) wanted to get close to them and shake hands.... but no-— it’s coronavirus distancing (and to be fair they are all high risk age group— but have survived much worse- just saying). It was a beautiful solemn moment (and Melania has kin who died fighting nazis and commies both). Just beautiful.
Salute to our Veterans— of ALL wars. God Bless You All!
Patton
The Longest Day
The Big Red One
Heartbreak Ridge
We Were Soldiers
“Tora, Tora, Tora” is a great movie. It tried to show the thinking on both sides leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. It showed the code breakers working diligently to get that last bit of intel that could make the difference. I like that it had no computerized special effects.
IN Harm’s Way
