Flubros and Flubras! Day 62 (a place for Flubros and Flubras)

It’s just the flu, bro.

Wisconsin and Oregon both had their Governor’s stay at home orders overturned by courts. But then with an appeal in Oregon and new county by county rules in Wisconsin it seems we still have enforceable rules in both states. Where is a state with pure freedom - a few non-enforceable guidelines but nothing to worry about?

A judge in Texas ruled in favor of widespread mail in ballots. He says that lack of immunity to the virus is a physical condition. This is nonsense because the state already guaranteed mail in ballots for seniors if they request it. For non seniors this is less than the flu, bro. Fear leads to mail in ballots which leads to corruption which leads to Dems getting elected in November. Hopefully a higher court will strike this ruling down.

What would someone who posts selfies and believes in an internet presence who speaks to him secret codes know about our national problems?

Oh, an easy one.

Because I'm someone who posts selfies and believes in an internet presence who speaks to him secret codes.

Got a little awkward grammatically there toward the end but I KNOW you know what I mean.

And the postscript you forgot to include. How does that someone know our national problems BETTER than somebody that doesn't do as I do.

You are miles behind, son.

No, 60 is the number of pallets of hand sanitizer in their basements.

Or perhaps it’s because you find comfort in someone who agrees with you no matter how wrong you are.

I've commented a couple of times that Georgia's number's look too good to be true. Yesterday I saw revisions in their daily cases graph that moved the cliff out to just the last two days.

Today I found this. Source

"Georgia's Department of Public Health also regularly publishes a graph that shows cases over time, except new infections are not listed on the day they came back positive, which is the practice in many other states. Instead, Georgia lists new cases on the day the patient first reported symptoms.

"That practice can shift the timeline of the outbreak and make it appear as if the state is moving past the peak.

"Kemp spokesperson Candice Broce insisted that the governor’s office is not telling the department what to do and that officials are not trying to dress up data to make Kemp look better, saying that “could not be further from the truth.”

This doesn’t change the number and in fact is likely more accurate to show and how the virus works. But you get your underwear in a wad over this and ignore that in other states multiple positives are counted as novel cases every time there is a positive in the same person. And deaths are inflated by over 25% and presumptive deaths are also included.

Never mind that multiple states have revised death rates downward.

Get a grip. It’s over. You need to plan what you are going to do next in your life as fear mongering appears to be on the wane.

We need good daily new case numbers free of distortions in either direction for the public to judge for themselves how safe it is.

His lazy, uncreative pride is inspiring!  I just laugh, laugh, laugh.

Both are distortions if you are trying to determine the amount of daily spread in an area. Which is what we should be using to determine how much social distancing and other protective measures like masks we need to be doing.

Georgia’s graph was showing new cases for the last two days at under 30 new cases for the whole state. That could lead people to believe there is no longer a need for social distancing. But the real numbers are probably north of 300 new cases a day.

Counting repeat tests as entire new cases, can make the public more cautions of going out and hurt the recovery.

And distortions in either direction lowers the public trust in the numbers and can hurt the recovery.

What hurts the recovery is the constant fear mongering, unsupported edicts from power hungry officials, and breathless reporting of every number the lame stream media can lay their hands on. We need to get in with life and stop scaring t people into hiding in their basements

Just got back from a walk. There was a roofing crew of mostly Latinos working closely together on the roof violating social distancing and wearing no masks. There were around 8 of them. It is just the flu bro.

Our county health website say Latinos account for half the cases in the county, but only account for ~6% of the population. The big numbers might be from a meat packing company that got hit hard.

Is there a reasonable likelihood that SARS and MERS were effectively the same threat as COVID-19, but for those, antibody tests weren’t done to any useful extent?

In other words, none of these were ever as problematic as believed? Several months ago South Korea said the actual statistical death rate, including antibody testing across a sample population, was only 0.6% with moderate prevention in place. That seems to be what we are near today—not 7-10%.

SARS and MERS were both a lot more deadly but a lot less contagious than COVID and therefore easier to trace and quarantine
