Alcohol prohibition brings out the bootleggers. And, what does alcohol prohibition have to do with the virus, anyway?

“Symptoms included dizziness, blurred vision or blindness, difficulty breathing, seizures and severe abdominal pain.”

Those are the EXACT symptoms I have when Tequila is involved! Plus, my clothes fall off. ;)

Prayers Up for those poor souls. I’m sure NO ONE was wishing Mom or Grandma THAT kind of outcome on Mother’s Day. :(

In Jalisco at least 28 people have died since April 26 from drinking El Chorrito, cane alcohol tainted with methanol, and seven have died in Yucatán after drinking bootleg liquor.

Something I did not know until this year is that when Moonshiners would run a still, they would throw out the first gallon or so of product because the methanol comes out of the batch first, and the first gallon or so is always contaminated with methanol.

Methanol is always a byproduct of distillation, and it has to be dealt with by the big alcohol producers as well as the little ones. These people in Mexico either didn't know about methanol, or just didn't care.

“15 pesos a liter or 5 pesos a glass and may have been tainted with excessive levels of methanol”

They say this as if some level of methanol in liquor is OK.

The Mexican peso is 0.041 United States Dollar. 25 pesos to the dollar. That’s some very cheap liquor.

Not even Seagrams or Popov make liquor that cheap.

60 cents a liter.

It never, and I mean NEVER pays to drink cheap liquor.

Sounds like what happens if you eat street food in Mexico!

I don’t care how nice Cancun might appear to be...any Westerner who sets foot in Mexico should have his/her head examined.
