“Factories Close for Good as Coronavirus Cuts Demand - Some manufacturers that furloughed employees during lockdowns say plants wont reopen”
How much is because their supply chain from China/Asia is broken?
Could be. For some components, they made not be made in the US anymore.
Leupold, which makes top of the line optics, gets (I believe) all their glass from Japan. Need to find that thread on a military forum I read, but someone on the thread noted that there is not a company in the US that makes the glass needed for the Leupold scopes. Even their high-end Golden Ring spotting scopes had glass not sourced in the US.
I just don’t want the ‘lockdown’ to get the blame when China (and free traitors) should be blamed.
I think there's enough blame to go around. Some of the lockdowns in certain states has been woefully mishandled/heavy handed (e.g New York, Michigan).
But had nothing to do with most manufacturing that depended on overseas sources.
Those were screwed as soon as China closed the first port back at the end of January.
And won’t recover/reopen when things ‘reopen’ until they get those widgets/electronic bits they need to assemble their products.
We were saying this on these threads nearly 4 months ago.
Even if the US never sniffled a single time, most manufacturing and retail was screwed at the end of January. They just didn’t know it yet.
I await news of Christmas decorations and children’s toys being manufactured and shipped. Those should have been begun before now to be on the boats this summer and in the stores this fall.
We’ll see.
I'm not sure if that was the case for some of the manufactures listed in the story. It was for Lenox, as they mentioned they are closing their plant in NC and will contract out that plant's work to overseas firms.
For some parts, there is no place to get the items except from overseas. Good example is muffin fans for network switches. Certain models of switches have fans only made in China. When we have a switch that craps out, we canx as much as we can from the bad switch and and save the parts in a cold spares kit for future use.
The only think I can tell from these numbers is the lockdowns didnt do much as most people were still out and about, and the reopening hasnt done much as many retail and restaurant businesses are sticking with their curbside, delivery, and drive through services for now. For example, I dont know of one restaurant dining room open near me.
(CNN) Hundreds of factory workers at a fish processing plant in Ghana have tested positive for the coronavirus, the countrys president Nana Akufo-Addo said.
All 533 of them contracted the virus from one worker at the factory in the port city of Tema, the president said in his public address to the nation Sunday.

CONFIRMED: The White House has directed all West Wing staff to wear masks at all times in the building, except when they are at their own desks
This shows how idiotic CDC and Surgeon General were weeks ago telling people not to wear masks.
Now they are scared
Trump and Pence need to be kept separate and one of them needs to hunker down

Prevalence and Duration of Acute Loss of Smell or Taste in COVID-19 Patients.
Lee Y1, Min P1, Lee S1, Kim SW1,
Abstract
Initially, acute loss of smell (anosmia) and taste (ageusia) was not considered important symptoms for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). To determine the prevalence of these symptoms and to evaluate their diagnostic significance, we (approximately 150 physicians of the Daegu Medical Association) prospectively collected data of cases of anosmia and ageusia from March 8, 2020, via telephone interview among 3,191 patients in Daegu, Korea. Acute anosmia or ageusia was observed in 15.3% (488/3,191) patients in the early stage of COVID-19 and in 15.7% (367/2,342) patients with asymptomatic-to-mild disease severity. Their prevalence was significantly more common among females and younger individuals (P = 0.01 and P < 0.001, respectively). Most patients with anosmia or ageusia recovered within 3 weeks. The median time to recovery was 7 days for both symptoms. Anosmia and ageusia seem to be part of important symptoms and clues for the diagnosis of COVID-19, particularly in the early stage of the disease.

This may already have been answered. It is the “reduced” form of glutathione. There is a substantial degree of controversy as to whether it is superior or not. Some claim the lipo and acetyl versions have superior absorption.
