20 years. you beat me :)
taking zantac is NOT gonna be the thing that kills you and me.
Neither is this virus.
Something will, but not those things :)
As a counter? I never heard of that use. Interesting.
I’m taking prilosec now. or nexium lol not sure :)
I take it from your handle that you are looking forward to the upcoming Dune movie. Hopefully this COVID nightmare won't delay the opening too much.
God stamped an invisible expiration date on our butts when we were born.
I had a life-threatening pituitary tumor that had to be removed surgically. That led to a loss of mineralocorticoid adrenal function, which has to be remedied by hydrocortisone pills three times a day. Those have side effects which include excessive stomach acid production. Thus the regular use of Zantac for years, which — except for the increased cancer risk — was superior to the cimetidine, famotidine, and carbonate antacids I use now — to keep from having stomach acid burn holes in my gut.
I took it on and off for a few years...probably went through 3 bottles over a 12 year period...
I’m very sure this is not what will take us down :)
I’m hoping neither of us finds out what takes us down for a long time!
If there's anything to the phrase, "Only the good die young", I should have a number of good years ahead...
What did she do about her stomach?
I think she switched to rolaids or Tums. I’ve found pepcid to be the only thing that helps my GERD. I take two 20 mg tablets at bedtime, which is a prescription dose (40mg). If you’ve tried it at a lower dose, it probably did little. If you want to try it, check with your doctor, first, as it is not recommended at that high a dose if you have certain lab values.
As a sidenote, when pepcid first came out, it was considered a miracle drug. Before that, hospital patients with bleeding ulcers would receive ice water gastric lavage (a nasogastric tube into the stomach, running ice water in and out of the stomach continuously), to staunch the bleeding, then, many times, surgical removal of the affected part of the stomach.
IV pepcid 20 mg IV, every 12 hours, reduced the stomach acid enough to let the ulcers heal.
[Its BULL *hit. Just like so much these days. It was found to sometimes contain the same chemical that is in bacon in about the same amount(Full dose = 1 strip of bacon). Didnt you know that if you eat bacon then you will get cancer and DIE? There is exactly that much credibility to this attack.]
Google has now delisted it even though it has not been outright banned we can always count on Google to tow the government line.
You can still find it on Ebay, but the price is extreme.
Thank you. I’m on Omeprazole myself - 1 20 mg in the a.m. - working very well.
My dog takes a Prilosec every morning.
There have been advertisements on for months that it causes cancer!!
I’m glad it helps!
If there’s a punch line, I’m missing it here.......
No punch line. The dog has acid reflux. Vet put her on 20mg Omeprazole a day.
The weird thing is the dog is 20lbs and she takes the same dosage as an adult human.
