Now, a California man has put a painstakingly amount of effort into creating the worlds clearest image of the moons craters.
Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy is the genius behind this masterpiece, which took two weeks to create. So, how did he do it?
Heres McCarthy describing the process: This moon might look a little funny to you, and thats because it is an impossible scene. From two weeks of images of the waxing moon, I took the section of the picture that has the most contrast (right before the lunar terminator where shadows are the longest), aligned and blended them to show the rich texture across the entire surface.
McCarthy calls the photo All Terminator.

Everyone says the moon is made of cheese, but when the astronauts got there it was as hard as rock. But that's what happens to cheese when you leave it out.

Personally, I would rather paint the moon flat black (0% albedo). Its way to bright and interferes with visual astronomy of Deep Sky Objects.

I find it odd that there has been no attempt to film the dark side of the moon where all the alien bases are located........

I presume that you know that the entire moon gets full illumination during its orbit around the earth. It only presents one face to the earth.

But did they find the body of Colonel William “Hawk” Hawkins, USAF (Ret.)?
I bet Alice was lonely until Hawk got there.

That Andrew McCarthy is amazing. Analyzing the Rosenstein business and finds time to take photos of the moon too.

To see the 1902 movie, and a bit of how it was made, see Hugo (2011). Also see Episode 12 of the miniseries From the Earth to the Moon (1998).
