Scientists say they have discovered what they believe is a mutated strain of COVID-19 — and are now warning that this new strain could be way more contagious than plain old coronavirus.
According to a Tuesday report in the Los Angeles Times, researchers say that a new "mutant" strain of coronavirus has emerged.
The study, led by scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, reveals that the new strain is more contagious than versions that spread in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to being more contagious, the new strain could reportedly make people more vulnerable to a second infection after a "first bout with the disease."
The study was published on Thursday in BioRxiv and has yet to be peer-reviewed, but researchers said they felt an "urgent need for an early warning" to advise people of the potential danger of the new strain.
The outlet reported, "Wherever the new strain appeared, it quickly infected far more people than the earlier strains that came out of Wuhan, China, and within weeks, it was the only strain that was more prevalent in some nations. ... The new strain's dominance over its predecessors demonstrates that it is more infectious."
"The report was based on a computational analysis of more than 6,000 coronavirus sequences from around the world, collected by the Global Initiative for Sharing All Influenza Data," the Times added. "Time and time again, the analysis found the new version was transitioning to become dominant."
At the time of this writing, researchers at Johns Hopkins University estimate at least 3,606,038 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed around the world, with at least 252,151 deaths because of the virus.

Study leader Bette Korber — who is a computational biologist — addressed the study on her Facebook page, the outlet reported.
“The story is worrying, as we see a mutated form of the virus very rapidly emerging, and over the month of March becoming the dominant pandemic form," Korber wrote. “When viruses with this mutation enter a population, they rapidly begin to take over the local epidemic, thus they are more transmissible."
She also pointed out that she is very concerned over the study's results.
“This is hard news," she continued, “but please don't only be disheartened by it. Our team at LANL was able to document this mutation and its impact on transmission only because of a massive global effort of clinical people and experimental groups, who make new sequences of the virus (SARS-CoV-2) in their local communities available as quickly as they possibly can."
Korber said that it is of utmost importance to remain aware and with a fluid, working knowledge of the disease and its metamorphosis.
"We cannot afford to be blindsided as we move vaccines and antibodies into clinical testing," Korber insisted. “Please be encouraged by knowing the global scientific community is on this, and we are cooperating with each other in ways I have never seen … in my 30 years as a scientist."
The cash cow (government funding) needs to milked until it is completely dried up.

Having survived 86 years of life on this planet, I have my own theory on contagious diseases. The world has always had germs and viruses and other weird unseen dangers. It’s not a safe planet. However our bodies have been equipped to survive most attacks from microbes.
I survived Chicken Pox, Measles, Whooping Cough, Mumps and Pneumonia as a child, as did all my siblings. The only one I recall was Whooping Cough and I remember that one because my baby sister was born when my other siblings and I were packed together in a space under the stairs to make room for the birthing in the bedroom.
Throughout my life I’ve had a few colds in the winter, but (as Trump says) I’ve never had the Flu or the vaccine. So my theory is that the world population will never stop pandemics until we develop “Herd Immunity”. The inside of our bodies are like the outside. You don’t develop muscles unless you exercise. You don’t develop immunity unless you survive a few antibodies. And yes, everyone doesn’t always survive and vaccines weaken immunity, just as couch potatoes don’t develop muscles.

Trump should have “reorganized” these two agenda driven interlopers out of the task force by now. Instead they remain on the big stage to expouse their opinions and act a conduit to their liberal associates.
Just as Phase One hysteria subsides, it’s time to introduce Phase Two. People will be trading Canadian Gold Maple Leaf for toilet paper and handi-wipes as dems celebrate.
This fits with the idea the virus was deliberate, since a deliberate biological attack should expect a phase 2 with a more potent virus. But this sounds like it’s been around for quite awhile.
It gets reported thru some outlet that the LA Times picks up as a story then some computational biologist makes a statement on a Facebook page saying things are looking more grim but “don’t disheartened, we’re ahead of the game on this one”.....(oh and it might make people more susceptible to a second infection....but it might not...but don’t worry”)

First of all,if it was a true Los Alamos Lab study, the scientists could not just take it upon themselves to report such a finding without going thru military and all sorts of hurdles without the President seeing it first....it would be coded top secret. I suppose they could take a subversive tact and do it anyway but the Facebook post is a dead deep state give away that it’s fake news.

It’s clear this is likely a biological attack since (1) it was released at the most convenient of times during the year, (2) China made sure to order large gathering while being aware of it and ensured travel out of China even while they clamped down on travel within China, (3) and the media, WHO and leftist organizations around the world—whom you should expect are under the pay and control of the Chinese government—are behaving exactly like they’re under the pay and control of the Chinese government, complete with white washing China in the stupidest of ways while hyping up the virus with a view towards collapsing the economy.
Collapsing the economy and disrupting our society and military would be the whole point of a biological attack, and if it is a biological attack, a second and even a third phase should be expected.
