As New York City residents ventured outside to enjoy a sunny Saturday, police sent 1,000 officers to ensure they abided by social distancing rules that remain in place to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
"This is the nicest weather we've seen this year; we encourage people to come out and enjoy this weather," Terence Monahan, Chief of Department for the New York Police Department, told NBC News.
But, he reminded residents out enjoying the city's parks, "You cannot gather; you cannot barbecue. We're going to give you a summons. There's been enough warnings."
He said the NYPD would have bike teams and mounted units on horseback throughout the parks, as well as aviation units working to spot problem areas.

C.H.U.D. (1984) is coming ,LOL
Amendment one.. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Freedom of religion...nope, not allowed the free exercise thereof.
Freedom of speech...nope...your social media account will be banned
Right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances...NOPE...you'll be arrested
Freedom of the press to huddle together photographing everyone getting arrested for the above...yep...that one is not getting reporters arrested. They must be allowed to spew their propaganda.
Very clear to see reporters in every arrest video. The rules don't apply to them
Getting the picture everyone?
“they’re fearful selves have made the CHOICE for me....they’re fears ended my rights....”
Well put.
“Im sure that many states will have liberal courts to uphold the illegitimate charges. Then what happens?”
Well, those courts will uphold the illegitimate charges. Then I guess the cases will go to SCOTUS. As bad as SCOTUS can be, it seems that they — even the “bad ones” — often do adhere to the Constitution. In the end ... a crapshoot.
Look for a September and October showdown in MI, WI and PA. Trump and the people of those states vs. their governors and the media.
I never thought police would actually turn on the American people. I’m so naive.
WTF, clearly unconstitutional. Here's the problem, they say you can gather in small groups, so the government is sending mixed messages to scare people into think they will get arrested.
Only the families that turn over Billy's bag of good pot as well.
Im in PA. Trust me, it’s NOT going over well here.
You werent wrong. When they return, they will carefully parent the rallies. The 6 months until the elections they will carefully scrutinize every 12 election activity for corona compliance.
This reads like The Babylon Bee.
There are stables for the public and horse trails.
We’re very happy with our police department, thank you.
Read your post again. Congress didn’t make any such law.
You’re right.
So why are these rights being trampled.
Governors can trample the rights by decree?
Our rights are trampled when Congress makes such a law.
Not when Congress hasn’t made any such law.
Congress hasn’t made any such law.
Get it?
