I sure didn’t like, people don’t buy masks, to, here take this t-shirt and put a rag on your face and you’ll get arrested or can’t buy food if you don’t.
Had they been honest, we need the masks, there is a global shortage for some strange CCP reason, so we’re asking you all to stay home while we find a supply, somewhere. And now we have enough masks for firstliners, and it’s time for you all at home to make one so you can go outside. Here’s a proper pattern to make a proper mask, btw, materials are tax deductible, keep your receipts, sorry we still don’t have enough to give you free ones. And we would have completely understood. And wouldn’t have all these folks right now, who, all they can still hear is, Surgeon General Adams saying ‘People! don’t buy masks’.

tell me your opinion. The gubmint sent out checks to pay the rent, with $500extra per kid. And enhanced unemployment and ‘forgiven if you do this’ loans so that people can survive for 30-60 days. I believe the lady got two of the three and her ‘starving employees’ also got two of three.
I admit I don’t know how long that lady’s area was sheltered, I’m guessing 2 weeks. So, wouldn’t opening a business that has accepted a loan to not open, or refusing to pay rent but cashing the rent-reimbursement check, be more of a major negative on a free society than going with the flow for 30 days and playing by the rules for accepting those monies?
I tell you what - there better not be any ‘teacher planning days’ for the rest of this year. Teachers have had plenty of time to plan.

At the parochial elementary school my wife teaches at / for, all of next week is workshops for teachers at the school plus “regular day” online instruction (from anywhere appropriate, but my wife will be using her classroom a lot).
Typical days the last few weeks have been a bit longer than normal, but with more flexible scheduling. No 25+ minute commute in (and back home) is a plus.
My wife / the school has been doing a lot of stuff with an app named “Zoom” so some instruction is “live”. Wifey says she needs a document camera - no indication the school will pay for it. Am trying to find out if a “gooseneck” mount for her smart phone might do the trick. It sure would be cheaper! Anybody have experience with a good inexpensive one?
My daughter goes to the same school system (middle school) & says she’s doing more hours of actual schoolwork now, not less, and I believe it. Again, much of the scheduling is more flexible. And she doesn’t have to get up @ 6 a.m. to get ready for the drive in. :-)
How typical this all is, I cannot say.

SEATTLE — A county in Washington State dealing with a coronavirus outbreak has identified a confounding new source of spread: “Covid-19 parties” organized so that people can deliberately mingle with an infected person in the hope of getting their own illness out of the way.
...Ms. Debolt said the two people who became ill after attending one of the parties in the Walla Walla area were young and have not needed hospital care. They informed health investigators that they figured they would be able to quickly recover from the virus, apparently not considering that they could then spread it to others more vulnerable to serious health effects or death.
