Giving an approximate fatality rate of 30/860, which is about 3.5%. These totals start on 3 March, 2020. Number of recovered cases is not listed on the NYS website for some reason.
Federal Government through it's NCBI website gives total annual influenza infections at 225000, with about 20000 deaths, a mortality rate of 11%.

Actually, I'd be willing to bet that we have had a net DECREASE in total deaths for this period but at a tremendous FINANCIAL COST. When Gov.Cuomo[?] says he would be satisfied if it just saved one life I'd ask him if he is tracking the long-term costs that can easily have increases in financial ruin and suicides!

Invalid comparison. It has no validity. It all depends on how people choose to count deaths, and assign the count a label. The inclusiveness of the counts, and the labels, are both arbitrary. So no comparison is possible.
