a balanced article from ABC news. I don’t agree with Napolitano, the virus was novel, which meant a test didn’t exist for six+ weeks because China destroyed the original data that might have made it a bit easier for our scientists, and I don’t recall nationwide testing when she was in office, but otherwise a good article that spans a decade:

Governors were warned of a pandemic, told to stockpile. Why didn’t they do more?

ABC News:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/governors-were-warned-of-a-pandemic-told-to-stockpile-why-didnt-they-do-more/ar-BB13narq?ocid=spartanntp

...By law, the federal government is just a back-up system to states, so “the reality is that all levels of government need to be prepared for something like this,”...

... Craig Fugate, who headed FEMA under president Barack Obama’s administration, told ABC News that after taking over the agency in 2009 and in the years since, he “noticed an unspoken trend from states to let the federal government handle” key parts of pandemic preparedness.

...Even the state emergency management director who spoke on the condition of anonymity conceded “reliance on the Strategic National Stockpile was always the plan for all the states.”

Coronavirus Pandemic Update 64: Remdesivir COVID-19 Treatment Update

Dr. Seheult breaks down two studies on remdesivir that were released yesterday. One remdesivir study was published in the Lancet (the study was conducted in China) and the other was published by the NIH (the study was conducted in the United States). The results of these studies on remdesivir coronavirus treatment vs placebo were dramatically different.

Political folklore:

During the ERA days, an Illinois state legislator freaked out and went to the papers alleging that out of state ERA proponents offered him a bribe of $2,000 to vote for the amendment. A muckety muck political consultant was asked why the guy was so freaked. He replied, in Springfield he gets his votes for the price of a drink or lunch. The ERA proponents blew it.That poor smuck was never offered $2 grand for anything in his life. He freaked, thinking it was an FBI setup or something. “Hell for $2,000 I can get you a state highway!.”

“Is anyone else noticing that the longer we shelter in place,
the higher the number of cases gets, and the more people
die?”

Imagine what it would be like without the mitigation.

“Who are these people coming down with COVID-19 in record
numbers? How the hell did they catch it at home?”

Mostly they didn’t. They went shopping with the kids. They visited the in-laws. They didn’t take it seriously. Or their FluBro brother or kid went out and brought it home.

His conclusion is based on the studies that also gave positives for other corona viruses, some common cold caliber. They are not valid studies, and one was even taken down. He’s using bad information to formulate his opinion.

Why are high risk people, the old and the one's with pre existing conditions, going out it public? THEY SHOULD STAY AT HOME PERIOD. It is up to them to stay quarantined.

Like I said if the high risk types, the old and the sickly, would stay quarantined there would be no problem. The healthy have 99.9999999999999% chance of having no symptoms or very mild symptoms even if they get COVID.

I repeat: High risk people need to stay quarantined for the duration.

It's THEIR problem NOT MINE! If they need supplies then ask for help!!!! If they need help and are too stubborn to ask for help then go out and take a chance on getting sick and dying.

Show me a case where an old or sick person in quarantine asked for help AND DID NOT GET IT.

or lockdown or mitigation or whatever you call it doesn’t work. There is a contagious virus widespread in the community. Those who are going to get it are going to get it no matter what we do

Michigan numbers are horrendous.

Probably a lot to do with muslims who think they dont have to adhere to rules.

There are tons of high risk people.

People who are on Chemo for cancer who must still work to put food on the table.

People living with AIDs who still work.

“It’s THEIR problem NOT MINE!” Let’s don’t be a hater. Let’s not reflect our worries and anxieties on other people.

I understand people are worried about this virus because they might be unemployed and have friends who unemployed but it is not a reason to go out target high risk people with those type of comments.

“Wearing mask at this point in public is a sign of a low IQ.”
“I predict some “maskers” are going to be beaten like baby seals. It’s coming. This will be a survival thing. All I know is bad public policy begets bad public reactions.”
“You are a GD traitor. How do you sleep at night? I guess soulless creeps like you sleep like babies.”
“I think ‘normals’ should start flicking boogers on the ‘maskers’”
“Ridicule any person under 65 YO you see in public wearing a mask. I call them “maskers”. They are nothing but a bunch of useful Deep State™ idiots at this point.”

This behavior will not make the virus go away, your time is better spent finding solutions for your own problems and not directing hate at others.

You can find peace through Christ. John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

He is there for you, all you have to do is ask for help. He can help you through todays tough times, just ask.

Ummmm, obese and near obese are high risk, as well as diabetes. Can we have everyone post their BMIs and glucose tests? Thanks, now we have half the population locked down. Good job. Ummm. Now about that labor shortage, I would take it you would open immigration (non-elderly, non obese, off course.) the logical consequence of your solution sounds just peachy. Of course without total testing, all it takes is one asymptomatic here, one asymptomatic there and we be off to the races again....fun times!

“Show me a case where an old or sick person in quarantine asked for help AND DID NOT GET IT.”

My BIL’s mother was in a NJ nursing home. Was housed with a covid-19 positive roommate because there was no room at the time to move the positives. Both died. So I guess their help is on the way? You don’t read much do you? How’s that working out?

Yup.

But dad GOT it somewhere else.

And if you live with someone you’ll get it anyways. Most families have shared bathrooms, kitchens, dens, halls, doorknobs, levers, etc.

By the time you realize you’ve got it, the rest of your house/apartment mates do as well. Voila!

This is one reason it’s not wildfire in Sweden, majority of them live alone.

I think the companies who use those essential workers should be responsible for the Heath, housing and care of the essential workers they bring into the country. If that person draws EBT or other US resources, that company should reimburse the Government plus interest.

Are the companies responsible for this already? Not sure

Where do nursing home people go if their caretakers bring it in?

Aren’t they by definition ‘staying at home’?

Nursing home people, by definition, ARE quarantined.

Are you victim blaming nursing home residents?

Sounds like it.

Do you know anybody that die from the Flu?

"The 25,000 to 69,000 numbers that Trump cited do not represent counted flu deaths per year; they are estimates that the CDC produces by multiplying the number of flu death counts reported by various coefficients produced through complicated algorithms. These coefficients are based on assumptions of how many cases, hospitalizations, and deaths they believe went unreported. In the last six flu seasons, the CDC’s reported number of actual confirmed flu deaths—that is, counting flu deaths the way we are currently counting deaths from the coronavirus—has ranged from 3,448 to 15,620, which far lower than the numbers commonly repeated by public officials and even public health experts."

Comparing COVID-19 Deaths to Flu Deaths Is like Comparing Apples to Oranges

Flu stats have always been a total dumpster fire of overestimation. They gotta sell that vaccine donchaknow.

Well, well, well. We were laughed at when we said 6’ social distancing wouldn’t work. It sure didn’t work for these folks. Betcha half the town has it now. Hmm, imagine breathing in a closed room, someone passing around the agenda, someone had to set up the chairs and every one of them touching the door knob. What could possibly go wrong?
