Steve Bullock was the lame-duck governor of solidly red Montana, fresh off a failed Democratic presidential bid, when he pivoted and announced hed challenge Republican Sen. Steve Daines for his seat.
Days after announcing his candidacy last month, the first coronavirus cases appeared in Montana. That shifted the spotlight onto Bullock as he leads the states pandemic response, leaving Daines in the unusual position of a sitting senator competing for attention.
I look forward to when I can spend more time thinking about the campaign and doing that work, Bullock said last week. Right now hes making sure lives are being saved.
The coronavirus, the resulting economic shutdown and President Donald Trumps stumbles addressing the crises have abruptly scrambled this falls battle for Senate control. Democrats have rising hopes of gaining the minimum three seats theyll need to capture a majority, while Republicans who once banked on a robust economy and improving Trump approval ratings are showing signs of nervousness.
Old GOP assumptions about the political climate are totally upside down, said long-time GOP pollster Neil Newhouse. Republicans have to be prepared for an all-out battle, and its going to be a challenge.
Though a lot can change by Novembers Election Day, favorable signs for Democrats are evident.

Considering is seems that most Democrats will be terrified to leave their houses for the foreseeable future, they’d better hope they actually snooker enough red states to agree to mail-in voting.
The stalling of the economy is being lifted daily and the Democrats need to stop hoping in an election that is not going to take place. They have been found out and their goose is cooked.
Just about everything raises Democrat hopes.
Improving their chances of actually effecting change, though, is much more of a challenge.
How many times have they been sure, “We got ‘em on the ropes now!”, only to have their “best issues” be blown to smithereens when the actual strategy was put into play?

The dems will have to try something else to trip Trump and the economy. We will be 90% recovered from the virus by July 4.
It seems the only way to win is voter fraud, Keep the death toll up in the rats states kill more Americans, keep people at home trump wants you dead if you go back to work, offer them a monthly stipend, demand vote by mail.
