They crept up from 0.7 under lockdown to 0.96, so it appears they are near the limit of social activity to prevent increase. They have (with social distancing) opened stores, schools, parks, zoos, museums, etc. Masks are optional but common in most places and required on buses and trains. I assume there is some kind of fever screening and other precautions at work to reduce infections in the workplace. Seems livable for the short term, and probably similar to what we will see in our cities in coming weeks. People living in lower population densities should see fewer restrictions while rural populations can pretty much return to normal, only taking precautions when the go into a town that still has infections.
The question is, how long do you live like that?
Actually, the COVID-19 mitigation has really stomped out the flu in recent weeks. That suggests that more modest mitigation of the flu (no stay at home mandate, just “better sense and practices”) could reduce flu deaths by, say, half?
They say "just under 10 percent of the 1 million known cases" require hospitalization, then say only a small percentage require intensive care. There seems to be a disconnect in the numbers being discussed here since 5.8% of these "known cases" have died. There's no way that over half of those hospitalized patients died. I know in my county, where the spread is pretty well controlled, the hospitalization rate is 22%. ICU admissions are 7% of total positive cases and deaths 3.5%.

That is our status we are very rural in a low breakout state SC. We only wear a mask for the grocery store.
Only close friends visit for the first time this past weekend and that is outside. We pretty much keep a 6 feet distance.
My cousin who lives across the street from me keeps a distance from everyone he is Maintenance Chief at a Senior home. We are very careful with him 15 feet distance.
We did see New York tags arrive into the valley last week. I think those are Coronavirus Refugees. Hopefully they stay away from people for 14 days.

Reduced recovery time, and possibly lower fatality rate, but definitely not a silver bullet.
The patients taking remdesivir recovered 31% faster than those taking the placebo, the NIH found. The typical patient who took remdesivir recovered in 11 days, while the typical patient in the placebo group recovered in 15 days.Of the patients taking remdesivir, 8% died, compared with 11.6% of those in the placebo group, though the difference wasn't statistically significant.
” Doctors report seeing patients who wait too long to seek care, including those who do not feel the symptoms of plummeting oxygen levels, such as shortness of breath, until they are in crisis. No one is sure why. Many peoples lungs remain flexible for a while, allowing carbon dioxide out and forestalling the sensation they arent getting enough oxygen. “
So send them home WITH OXIMETERS.
IF that coagulation problem occurs after low oxygen then a huge number of people could be given effective treatment early, when needed.
Promptness of treatment/support seems to be the best indicator for a successful recovery. (Not the whole story of course.)
how convenient of CCP to release this ‘must be approved by committee’ report six or seven months after the fact.
And the WHO is still standing by their Jan declaration like a dog with an old bone.

BRAZIL
Today, Brazil recorded a record increase in the number of cases, registering an additional 6,276 infected people in the last 24 hours. The country now has 78,162 confirmed cases and is already the 11th in the list of nations affected by the new coronavirus, now approaching China (which has almost 83,000 cases). Brazil recorded an additional 449 fatalities, bringing the total death toll to 5,466.
At the press conference, Health Minister Nelson Teich said he did not know when Brazil was going to peak and indicated that “a second wave” is a real possibility. The newly installed minister added that the scarcity of fans is a critical point in the country. “We have never had so many big problems at the same time,” concluded Nelson Teich.

Yes-I agree. Better practices could really help going forward with the flu without a doubt. How much has the current mitigation really impacted the flu? A lot no doubt, but how much is difficult to say, since there seems to be an inclination to label deaths as CV and so who knows for sure how much?

so why did we do this absolutely insane action ....
we accomplished nothing....kids are going to be behind in school, suicides will happen, families will break up, illnesses not addressed because we had to save some frail sickly elderly will result in many more deaths of 40yros....but I guess their lives weren't as important...
no one wants disease to kill people, but I feel that cancer and kidney disease and strokes and mental health are also worthy of being taken care of...
vulnerable...STAY HOME....
The nursing home people DID stay home.
They got infected by their caretakers.
Maybe the ‘vulnerable’ in your city don’t need caretakers?
