give-away or serious research? And who’s in it, besides not the US and not China?
$8 billion effort aims to speed development of coronavirus vaccines and treatments
Glad you found it informative!
I was struck that the author had no ‘bona fides’ on the issue but just was seeking info.
says great things about our system.
Myocarditis in a patient with COVID-19: a cause of raised troponin and ECG changes
It is recommended that troponin is not routinely measured in patients with COVID-19. However, physicians need to pay heed to the possibility of myocarditis in cases of COVID-19: in cases with high GRACE scores and dynamic ECG changes, usual guidelines to exclude the possibility of an acute myocardial infarction, including measuring troponin and doing an angiogram within 24 h, need to be followed (video).

A transcriptional regulatory atlas of coronavirus infection of
human cells
Scott A Ochsner & Neil J McKenna
” Here, as a service to the research community to catalyze the development of novel CoV therapeutics, we generated consensomes for infection of human cells by MERS, SARS1 and SARS2 CoVs. We then analyzed the extent to which high confidence transcriptional targets for these viruses intersected with genes with elevated rankings in transcriptomic and ChIP-Seq consensomes for cellular signaling pathway nodes....

in particular: line 255-263: ???
” To investigate the specific nature of the crosstalk implied by this overlap in the context of the airway epithelium, we first identified a set of 16 genes that were in both the ALL CoV and PGR TC95s. We then retrieved two SPP experiments involving treatment of A549 airway epithelial cells with the PGR full antagonist RU486 (RU), alone or in combination with the GR agonist dexamethasone (DEX). As shown in Figure 6 , there was nearly unanimous correlation in the direction of regulation of all 16 genes in response to CoV infection and PGR loss of function.
line 262-263-——> These data indicate that antagonism between PGR and IFNR signaling in the airway epithelium may predispose pregnant women to infection by SARS2.”

1. While the Chinese regime was claiming there was no virus outbreak at the beginning of the year, customs data show they imported 2 billion masks.
[also 400 million PPEs]
[in Jan-Feb - it was a quota-driven political drive]
[why import when they produce so many themselves]

I know, finding accurate data from that time is exceedingly difficult. They did not keep great records at the time. The CDC did not exist yet to keep records on every single death in the US.

Pretty sure they decided via death differentials using 1917 data vs 1918 and 1919.
Also funeral candles (like during the middle ages) for Catholic countries.
There are approximately 120 million smokers in India. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), India is home to 12% of the world’s smokers. More than 10 million die each year due to tobacco in India. According to a 2002 WHO estimate, 70% of adult males in India smoke.
AC runs 24 hours a day here in AZ come summer.
There is also the fact that everyone here has never slowed down. They are just all congregated in less places.
Most Americans would rather die that be forced to have an existential thought. I see proof of it all around me.
Who woulda thunk?
Nevertheless, I am ready for that too.....

There are different ways the CFR has been estimated for the 1917-1919 pandemic. I’ve always had questions about it, because the data is contradictory.
I found an interesting account from London in the 1600s during one of the Black Plague epidemics. A man had kept a diary and recorded his experiences. The trajectory of that epidemic is similar in some ways to what we are facing now.

Heres the latest numbers from earlier today (Sunday) from Minnesota...
Per the Minnesota Department of Health, they are reporting 3602 positive tests for COVID-19, an increase of 156 cases from yesterday (Saturday).
28 new deaths were reported, raising the statewide total to 272. NOTE: Since COVID-19 stats have been kept in Minnesota, this represents that largest amount of same day deaths in the state.
1774 individuals with positive tests are no longer isolating, an increase of 120 from yesterday (Saturday).
Between the Department of Health and private labs, a total of 58987 tests have been conducted, an increase of 2390 tests since yesterday (Saturday).
Currently 285 patients are hospitalized for COVID-19, a decrease of 3 from yesterday (Saturday). 115 patients are in ICU, an increase of 6 from yesterday (Saturday).
The median age of all reported cases is 52. The median age of all hospitalized cases is 64. The median age of all deaths is 83.
The age group of all reported positive cases is as follows:
0-5 yrs - 1%
6-19 years - 3%
20-44 yrs - 35%
45-64 yrs - 31%
65+ yrs - 30%
Of all cases, 50% are female and 49% are male.
By ethnicity, whites comprise 53% of all cases and 69% of all deaths. Blacks comprise 14% of all cases and 5% of all deaths. Hispanics comprise 11% of all cases and 2% of all deaths. Asians comprise 4% of all cases and <1% of all deaths.

This is interesting.
Why does India have so few Covid-19 cases and
deaths?
Snip:
Other explanations center on universal BCG
vaccination in India, or domestic hydroxychloroquine
use to combat malaria. While it is true, for instance,
that countries with BCG vaccination appear so far to
have less transmission, these countries are also
warmer, have younger populations, andbecause they
are poorerlikely tested late. So it is hard to know
whether there is a true link between Covid-19 and BCG
or malaria burdens. Further analysis is required,
though it may not come fast enough to help in this
epidemic.
