New Thrtead, starting 4/25/2020
Is that the current CFR or the resolved CFR so far (for COVID)?
It’s a rolling CFR. A true CFR cannot be determined until after cases are resolved. There are still 1,828,947 active cases, 754,305 of them in the US.
maybe we should be testing for asymptomatics, starting with single, live alone, and quarantining them with volunteers as a study group - what makes them different?
Asymptomatics living with family would have infected family by now and so outed themselves, and the infected q’d for 30+ days would have gotten sick by now, aren’t asyies are the only source of infection left?
thanks
There is no such date as 4/31.
Looks good to me.
If an asteroid can wear a mask, you can too :) lol

The Chinese use huge bus barns with roll-up doors with huge UV-C lights to sterilize 6-10 buses at a time, in two long lines, with humans excluded from the whole building. They roll the buses in at night when they're out of service. I don't know how long the buses are stuck in there.
And there are small box-shaped UV-C sterilizers for sterilizing small items like N95 masks. I have a foldable one. It has an opague plastic fabric around it.

There Are no Viruses Here: Leader of Belarus Scoffs at Lockdowns
There are no viruses here, said the Belarusian president, Aleksandr G. Lukashenko, gesturing to the crowded arena. Do you see any of them flying around? I dont see them either.
.
Worldometer numbers, Belarus: From April 3: 9,590 cases, 67 deaths
The 1918 Spanish Flu had about a 10% fatality rate worldwide and about 2.3% in the US. See the Wikipedia article. About 30-35% of the population in most countries caught it - 500 million of 1400 million people worldwide = 35.7%, and 50 million died.
“What Explains the Difference Between Estimated COVID-19 Fatality Rates in New York and California?”
Encephalopathy is something my wife and I have talked about. One Freeper who I was bit ignorant with mentioned the long term effects of the Spanish Flu. He was correct. We don’t know all the mayhem this is going to bring. Neurologists are going to be very busy over the coming decades. Thanks for the link.
Toilet paper, cleaning products and now, elastic? Mask makers cope with unexpected COVID-19-related shortages as sewing machine demand jumps.
As shoppers scavenge to find toilet paper and other quarantine essentials, some crafters who are making protective masks said they struggle to find another necessary item: elastic.
With protection against COVID-19 spurring demand, hobbyists skilled in sewing have turned to making masks and are hunting down materials and sewing machines. Thats led to shortages of elastic and high demand for less pricey sewing machines and even the services of people who repair old machines.
Some maskers are using hair bands and ties for their masks. That will be the next shortage, along with ribbon, thread and machine needles.

Hackers hit US coronavirus response: ‘They are trying to steal everything’
The Trump administration is pointing the finger at China for attempting to steal coronavirus research as officials are warning they have seen a growing wave of cyberattacks on US government agencies and medical institutions leading the pandemic response by nation states and criminal groups.
Hospitals, research laboratories, health care providers and pharmaceutical companies have all been hit, officials say, and the Department of Health and Human Services - which oversees the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — has been struck by a surge of daily strikes, an official with direct knowledge of the attacks said.

Mystery of India’s lower death rates seems to defy coronavirus trend
MUMBAI/AHMEDABAD, India (Reuters) - Parts of India have recorded dramatic falls in mortality rates after a nationwide lockdown was imposed to fight the new coronavirus, suggesting there has not been an undetected surge in virus-related deaths.
...While death rates in some countries have risen sharply in recent weeks, in India the opposite seems to be happening, at least in some places, leaving hospitals, funeral parlours and cremation sites wondering what is going on.
not bothering with the title, but an interesting if biased read on the admin using the IHME model and how modeling is never gospel but an educated guess in constant need of tuning.
