Abstract
The current pandemic due to the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 has caused an extreme burden for health care systems globally, and the number of cases is expected to continue to increase, at least in the immediate future. The virus is estimated to have infected more than 1.5 million individuals. The available reports suggest that gastrointestinal (GI) involvement in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is common and in some cases the GI symptoms may precede the respiratory symptoms. In addition to direct effects of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, the infected patients remain at risk for the complications commonly managed by gastroenterology and hepatology consultants. The most commonly reported GI manifestation of COVID-19 is diarrhea, which is reported in a third to up to more than half of the patients. Mild to moderate elevation of the liver enzymes are also common, although no case of acute liver failure has been reported so far. Many of the medications used for treatment of COVID-19 can also be associated with GI symptoms or liver injury and can be included in the differential diagnosis in these patients. Although the diagnosis of the infection is currently based on RNA analysis in respiratory samples, the available literature on fecal shedding of this virus suggests that fecal RNA testing might prove to be a useful diagnostic test. It is reasonable to delay all non-urgent endoscopic procedures during the peak of the pandemic and use additional protective equipment such as N95 respirators during endoscopy while most patients can be considered high risk for having been exposed to the virus.

Can Early and High Intravenous Dose of Vitamin C Prevent and Treat Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)?
1 High-dose intravenous VC has also been successfully used in the treatment of 50 moderate to severe COVID-19 patients in China. The doses used varied between 10 g and 20 g per day, given over a period of 810 h. Additional VC bolus may be required among patients in critical conditions. The oxygenation index was improving in real time and all the patients eventually cured and were discharged [18]. In fact, high-dose VC has been clinically used for several decades and a recent NIH expert panel document states clearly that this regimen (1.5 g/kg body weight) is safe and without major adverse events [19].

To know the future, watch the case numbers.
which for the US have been rising the last few days. I tried guesstimating off that trend (basically assuming daily cases are now "wobbling" around an average of 30k / day) and your existing prediction of almost 93.7k fatalities by 5/31 and again come in at a minimum of 100k fatalities by 4/31.
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
The spike for 4/24, 38,958 new cases, got my attention as it sort of put an exclamation point on the 3 day trend. 4/24 is hopefully a data quirk - Fridays have tended to be "hot" days, reporting-wise, but even allowing for that, 4/24 would still be the 3rd consecutive rise of the daily new case number. MAYBE something more has kicked in with testing?
I'm very much crossing my fingers that 4/25 comes in below 30k daily new cases for the US...
China reportedly lobbied the EU to dial down criticism of its Covid-19 disinformation campaigns
EU officials appear to have delayed and rewritten part of a report that worried Chinese diplomats.
By Zeeshan Aleem Apr 25, 2020, 6:30pm EDT
China has reportedly successfully lobbied European Union officials to rewrite and soften language in a new report criticizing Beijing for spreading disinformation around coronavirus.
According to reports in the New York Times and Politico, Chinese diplomats managed to persuade EU officials to scrap a reference to China running a global disinformation campaign, and also remove reference to Beijings criticism of the French response to the pandemic.
The final version of the report reads mildly: Official and state-backed sources from various governments, including Russia and to a lesser extent China, have continued to widely target conspiracy narratives and disinformation.
The lobbying campaign represents the latest instance of the Chinese government attempting to control narratives in order to defend its reputation, after failing to keep coronavirus within its borders and to properly alert other countries of the threat the new virus poses.
Recently, Chinese officials and news outlets have deliberately spread false information most notably the conspiracy theory that the US Army introduced the novel coronavirus to Wuhan and started the pandemic itself.

Heres the latest numbers from earlier today (Saturday) from Minnesota...
Per the Minnesota Department of Health, they are reporting 3446 positive tests for COVID-19, an increase of 261 cases from yesterday (Friday).
23 new deaths were reported, raising the statewide total to 244. NOTE: Since COVID-19 stats have been kept in Minnesota, this represents that largest amount of same day deaths in the state.
1654 individuals with positive tests are no longer isolating, an increase of 60 from yesterday (Friday).
Between the Department of Health and private labs, a total of 56597 tests have been conducted, an increase of 2810 tests since yesterday (Friday).
Currently 288 patients are hospitalized for COVID-19, an increase of 10 from yesterday (Friday). 109 patients are in ICU, an decrease of 2 from yesterday (Friday).
The median age of all reported cases is 52. The median age of all hospitalized cases is 64. The median age of all deaths is 83.
The age group of all reported positive cases is as follows:
0-5 yrs - 1%
6-19 years - 2%
20-44 yrs - 35%
45-64 yrs - 32%
65+ yrs - 30%
Of all cases, 50% are female and 49% are male.
By ethnicity, whites comprise 54% of all cases and 70% of all deaths. Blacks comprise 14% of all cases and 5% of all deaths. Hispanics comprise 10% of all cases and 2% of all deaths. Asians comprise 4% of all cases and <1% of all deaths.

I heard that corona immunity typically lasts up to 2 years, so you’d need a booster at least once every 2 years.
I believe CDC’s ultimate flu numbers for every flu season are estimated as well. Why not for COVID-19?
Air conditioning helps to preserve the virus indoors. Bring it home to the family, air conditioning lets it live long enough to infect the family.
Masks are more to attenuate exhaled viral load if the wearer is carrying the virus, rather than to prevent someone from getting the virus, since they’re notoriously poor at performing the latter function, except for the N-95s or better.

You sure. I read that the fatality rate for Spanish Flu was 10%. The current CFR for USA for COVID-19, using official number, is around 3 to 4 percent. (Resolved CFR could be somewhat higher when its all over -- it's high as a kite now.)
Kemp seems to be having this thing backwards, opening businesses with fairly intimate contact (nail salons) and places that could get crowds (restaurants), rather than simply lifting home confinement and allowing curbside pickups as a first step. Glad to hear most businesses down there are taking the new measures with a grain of salt.
Note to self: buy some pork chops and ham steaks next time I go grocery shopping.
Weve had curbside pickup all along, and no home confinement, just suggested. No gatherings more than 10 people. Many outdoor venues, like city parks still open.
Georgia restaurant owners say it’s not safe to reopen, despite OK from governor

Comment: the article is obviously biased against our governor, but it touches on some important reasons why many restaurants wont be open for inside dining.
