I called 1000bulbs.com and asked for UV lights so we could disinfect the church and they told me flat out that UV light will not work on COVID and if it did they would be making a fortune.
Ultraviolet Radiation (UV)
The wavelength of UV radiation ranges from 328 nm to 210 nm (3280 A to 2100 A). Its maximum bactericidal effect occurs at 240280 nm. Mercury vapor lamps emit more than 90% of their radiation at 253.7 nm, which is near the maximum microbicidal activity 775. Inactivation of microorganisms results from destruction of nucleic acid through induction of thymine dimers. UV radiation has been employed in the disinfection of drinking water 776, air 775, titanium implants 777, and contact lenses778. Bacteria and viruses are more easily killed by UV light than are bacterial spores 775. UV radiation has several potential applications, but unfortunately its germicidal effectiveness and use is influenced by organic matter; wavelength; type of suspension; temperature; type of microorganism; and UV intensity, which is affected by distance and dirty tubes779. The application of UV radiation in the health-care environment (i.e., operating rooms, isolation rooms, and biologic safety cabinets) is limited to destruction of airborne organisms or inactivation of microorganisms on surfaces. The effect of UV radiation on postoperative wound infections was investigated in a double-blind, randomized study in five university medical centers. After following 14,854 patients over a 2-year period, the investigators reported the overall wound infection rate was unaffected by UV radiation, although postoperative infection in the refined clean surgical procedures decreased significantly (3.8%2.9%) 780. No data support the use of UV lamps in isolation rooms, and this practice has caused at least one epidemic of UV-induced skin erythema and keratoconjunctivitis in hospital patients and visitors 781.

It actually sounds like they are going about it the right way.
I think the governor is right in trusting people to do the right thing about taking precautions.
This business of the government dictating to us all what we should and should not be doing in a one size fits all paradigm, is wrong.
Half-assed decision.
China gives the CCPWHO $30M and voila, insistence that the world stay locked down
Except for China, who’s very busy trying hard to buy businesses at fire-sale prices caused by a lie that started a pandemic. While they resume selling defective medical equipment and antagonizing their neighbors amidst their neurotic apartment building like termites, never mind the wasting of world resources on ‘pretty neon cities’ for their select ‘pretty people’ slaves.
Starving the world of data as they race to achieve a monopoly on the world’s first vaccine while labeling the world ‘disrespectful’ and ‘insolent’ - the Chinese way of calling the rest of the world Deplorables.
Why is that?
The governor or the restaurants?
I've only seen studies suggesting "about 1 year" for the 4 CV's that cause common cold, during which time you can actually be reinfected and shed virus, but do no become symptomatic. MERS depends on the severity of infection, from 10 months to 18 months, and SARS about 2 years plus. Those are the only CV's prior to this one to infect humans. Also, with SARS and MERS, all that was verified was "an antibody response" to deactivated virus, not immunity. I think the bottom line is that we can hope, but we just don't know.
I agree, I am not for government overreach. The problem is the fact this is very sudden for the businesses. The article outlines all the hoops the restaurants have to go through to open, its crazy and impossible. It would take weeks to get everything in place. Not to mention, its difficult to open that quickly, especially under new regulations. A little more lead time would have been nice.

And where does China get the money to buy hurting Western companies?
... From Western investors!
The governor.
Trying to prove how libertarian he is or something. NOT in the best interests of the people of Georgia and bordering areas.
Everyone is longing to go back to the days when 6 people could sit around a restaurant table. Without catching something. I don’t think it’s at all sensible now, and the restaurant patrons are foolish if they try it.
The spike on 4/24, of 38,958 will show up as an increase in the number of deaths in a couple of weeks if we don't have better treatment beforehand. However the uptick hasn't been that great, luckily.
For the last few days, the calculations I made on the 23rd have been running a little low - I should rerun it, but it isn't going to be too far off, unless we get a larger spike in # cases after the governors reopen their states up.
The graph below is the latest as of tonight. You can see a definite uptick for the last several days; down a bit today, thankfully:
I've seen estimates that the 1919 pandemic had a case fatality rate of about 2%.
As of this morning, the death rate for Covid-19 is 6.998%. Yesterday, it was 7.027%. The US rate is lower, but is at 5.738% and still increasing. I have the sense that the US is lagging behind the rest of the world on this trajectory.
