Upon examining a wealth of existing research dating as far back as the 1950s, the authors of the paper explain that flushing a toilet that contains fecal matter can produce bioaerosols that remain in the air for an extended period of time. Much of the research suggests the material remains in the air for up 8 minutes after the toilet was flushed.

The force pressure with which bathrooms in office buildings, schools, and box stores can flush, is sure to get bioaersols in the air depending on what is there. And those toilets have no lids. And as was stated, many are now “auto-flush,” and you have to stand up real quick to avoid getting splashed.

Every now and then I get slapped in the face with water when a public restroom when it’s too strong!

Good to know, I will definitely try that trick :) And yeah they can be a nuisance. My workplace can be noisy and when I have needed to make a quick call in a private place it is in the bathroom sometimes hehe. Lo and behold this is when the darn thing decides to go nuts and just keeps flushing over and over.
It has a pretty powerful flush. I try to look at it as it’s keeping the bowl cleaner between persons. But it could be spraying the nasty unseen germs quite more effectively. I just know it’s not saving water that’s for sure.
I cannot look at idiots in the eye running around in public donning face mask. Face masks are the new dunce cap.
So put a swimming pool chlorine puck into your toilet tank. Avoid public restrooms. Problem solved
People wearing masks as they are jogging. They don’t need the mask for bad air quality. Air quality has improved with the lockdown.
