Disney's world theme parks may not reopen until 2021 due to strict social distancing measures in force because of coronavirus, ultimately impacting profitability. Some of Disney's largest and best-known theme parks may have to wait for a coronavirus vaccine to be found before they can reopen, despite some sites advertising bookings as early as June. Social distancing, travel restrictions and recession brought on by the global pandemic are factors that contribute to the business becoming 'less profitable', until such time as a vaccine is 'widely available'. That is a financial analysis of Disney by investment banking group UBS, in a report called, 'The Eye of the Storm'.

ANAL LISTS got us into this problem....
Silly me. I wonder if analyst had stock or financial gain if this happens.
Every time I speak at a conference I am required to disclose any financial interests that may impact my judgment.
I think every analyst who makes I statement like this should be required to make a complete financial disclosure. Who know... this guy may own a ton of stock thst stands to gain with Disney not working.
Wrong.
Re-Open Florida Task Force Meeting Today to Determine Timetable on Theme Park Reopenings, Including Walt Disney World Resort Opening First to Floridians
With Governor Ron DeSantis Re-Open Florida Task Force Executive Committee now fully assembled, it seems the governor is already in talks with Walt Disney World executives in order to spearhead a plan for reopening businesses across Florida. The special committee is tasked with figuring out a timetable on when the local parks, like Walt Disney World, will be able to reopen, and they will be meeting today to determine the first potential steps.
According to Spectrum News 13, some of the steps being considered include:
Timetable for coming back
Reopening will have to be gradual
State residents, then national and international visitors
The Task Force will be determining gradual reopening steps for the state, which is considered to be approaching Phase One of the White Houses three-phase reopening guidelines. Also under consideration is the notion of opening to local and state residents first, then national and international visitors.
I adore the Chinese legend of Mulan and even Disneys animated adaptation of it.
But the live-version of Mulan which was due to be released in March had all sorts of less than savory backers with even cast members touting Chinese communist propaganda: going on the attack against Hong Kong protesters in interviews and things!
Very glad the movie is getting taste of own medicine.
Big Media doom and glooming us right after Rush said Disney can’t stay closed much longer.
ESAD, Big Media!!!!
I suggest not booking until next year. For what you have to pay its just not worth it if three fourths of all the parks are not even open or running.
Disney makes its money on crowding the parks, they will continue to lose even more plus taking the risk of lawsuits if they even partially open.
I was there in late February, massive packed crowds, but..a lot were from Brazil.
They are thinking of reduded rides, spaces on everything including shows, virtual queues on everything.
Probably late 2021, to be exact. After the 3rd wave has mostly subsided.
If true it has more to do with insurance companies and ambulance chasers than with any virus.
Disney will have to wait til after the 7th wave that way we can be sure it will be safe. Sometime in 2023.
IMHO, they should stop the ticket gouging at $140+ each day and do what McDonalds did with the $1 menu.
If you lower the price to something reasonable you will fill the parks with local, US and world travelers.
Disney is going to collapse. Their business model requires people to congregate in large numbers. Theme parks, movie theaters, cruise ships, resorts, even TV sports coverage. They do have TV and streaming but they aren’t enough to sustain the loss of revenue from all of that.
Even if they lower the prices to $10 per day, they’re not going to get people coming to those petri dishes.
Be creative. I’m sure they could come up with a great interactive GCI Disney World visit.
Watch for Disney to advocate changes in Florida law to be able to avoid liability if someone gets sick while either employed by Disney or visiting one of its parks—something like the state of the law if an alligator snatches a little boy on Disney property and drags it into a pond and drowns it (that really happened). The common law was that Disney was not liable for the actions of a wild animal on its property, and the visitor 100% assumed the risk.
This is why there is a 95% probability that there will not be a college football season this autumn. The risk of lawsuits from fans and/or concession stand workers & ushers who get sick is too great.
Walt Disney World, Sea World, and the Universal Studios theme park are major drivers of the central Florida economy. Many thousands of families depend on the parks for their income, directly or indirectly. The closure of the parks has dire effects on a great many people, even on those who never set foot in them. DeSantis and Trump know that a recession in the Orlando area is bad news for them and the GOP.
Wonder when people start shorting disney stock????
OUCH. That’s a severe financial hit.
