Mr. President. If this is truly a war, let the people fight and win.

We are Americans. We face the enemy, overcome fear and embrace the opportunity to better our lives for ourselves and future generations.

The Revolutionary War saw the deaths of 25,000 American revoltionaries. 1 in 20 able bodied white free males living in America died during the war. We won, the country was born.

We had the challenge of conquering the West. The Oregon Trail alone realized 20,000 deaths (10 buried every mile). Knowing the risks, facing fear, they were not ordered to stay home. Brave Americans traveled west. They won. America was expanded.

In WWI, 120,000 Americans died facing the enemy. We won, the country thrived.

In WWII, .32% of the US population died in WWII (419,000 Americans). We won and the country became the world power.

The Gulf Wars and the War on Terrorism were and are being fought by brave Americans overcoming fear to defeat the enemy. We won and are winning, providing security for our nation allowing us to reach for greatness. . Now we have a war against an "invisible enemy", and our leaders tell the American people to cower in fear, shelter in place and play defensively. What took two hundred fifty years and unmeasurable sacrifice and suffering by all generations before us to build is being destroyed in 2 months.

It is time for Americans to be unleashed, to take on this enemy, rather than be told to cower in fear and let the beurocrats dictate our actions, control our life.

We Americans never won or gained anything by acting in fear, playing defensive. The best defense is a good offense.

Government officials and scientists with charts and models will not defeat this enemy.

We have faced and defeated far greater enemies than this. We,the people, built this nation. Allow us to win again, before it is too late.

If we are to go down, let us go down fighting, not sheltering in place.

We have Obama style ROE’s forced upon us. That’s not how the west was one.

What we are enduring right now is a government mandated surrender to Coronavirus. The real danger is not the virus. It is the tyrants who are ordering us to submit to the virus who are causing the greater share of misery. Our ancestors would have launched a revolution by now.

We sure are, but the pussies being churned out from the colleges these days sure aren't. They're like little lambs being led to slaughter. It's disgusting to me what we've allowed to happen to our education systems right under our noses while we were busy supporting our families and trying to pursue the American dream. We let our mortal enemies fester and grow to freedom killing proportion. The real question is, what can we do about it now?

Agree about Obama’s ROE.

Can also relate to misguided ROE’s in the Vietnam War, and we know how that worked out.

A few cruise missiles targeted or an industrial accident at the 3 Gorges Dam will end this quickly.

Government-mandated surrender to Communist China. Bullets, guns, artillery, missiles, nukes, bio-weapons don’t kill people. The enemy kills people. These are just tools, surely as the propaganda from Communist China that is pitting American against American.

Civil War, nearly 700,000 died to form a more perfect Union. BTW, check that percentage for WW 2, that was not 32% of the population.

I see the .32% now, much more likely.

If this is truly a war as the President says, then those willing to fight that war should be allowed to do so. The able-bodied and those willing to risk sickness or even death, as our forefathers did so many times ago, should be able to go back to work and revitalize this country and save it for the next generation. Those not willing to do so can remain shelter in place.

People will die from this disease no matter what. Only herd immunity will allow for the return of a normal life as we know it, or should I say, as we once knew it.

Perhaps there will indeed be a war and the people will fight.

Wanna bet WHO they’re going to fight?

Yes, .32%. and that is much higher than what this virus will end up inflicting.

This isn’t a war. That’s just the language political leaders use to: (1) inflate their egos, and (2) justify an expensive and far-reaching response.

Why N95 masks couldn’t be rapidly produced is beyond me. USG has spent trillions on this virus.

If all HCWs could easily get them as well as the public, transmission would go way down, Then, we would have the ability to safely open up manufacturing, retail, museums, parks, churches, conferences as long as everyone involved wore these masks.

I don’t think there necessarily has to be an order to use masks in public with the exception of areas that have outbreaks. I would think that individuals would generally comply and businesses could require that patrons wear them when their entering their facilities. No mask, no service.

Not really sure what is wrong with the President.
He is being led by the nose ny some smarmy, creepy little man, who has changed his position on cornavirus more often than I have had not dinners.
Instead of letting the rest of the country get on with their business and quarantining NYC if neccessay, he let the entire country shut down because NYC keeps making up fake coronavirus deaths in order to wangle more money from the feds and in order to crush the economy and get Trump defeated in November.

What we are enduring right now is a government mandated surrender to Coronavirus.

Political risk aversion and an attempt to indemnify against liability. No politician wants to be blamed for deaths. Many governors issuing lock-downs do so while placing a health director directly in front of them to provide cover.

Gov DeWine in Ohio does it with Dr. Amy Acton who is full-on directing the surrender.

And governors are following suit (see my post #17).

Exactly right
Greg Abbot's “opening up the Texas economy” last week was a great big joke.

Yes, this country is filled with corrupt, incompetent politicians. There are very few if any real leaders left.

Had our current leaders lived in previous days, the cry “Go West, young man” would have been replaced with “Stay home, good citizen”.

And instead of “We have nothing to fear but fear itself”, we would have heard “We have everything to fear so stay home till we tell you otherwise”.
