America’s junk food diet makes us even more vulnerable to coronavirus
New York Post ^ | April 18, 2020 | Mary Kay Linge

It’s our favorite vice and our true national pastime: Here in the land of plenty, Americans love to overindulge.

We eat too much, drink too much, snack too much, sit too much — then rely on the marvels of modern medicine to repair our battered bodies. And that makes us easy prey for a brand-new infection like the novel coronavirus.

“This is on us,” Nicole Saphier, MD, told The Post. “We left ourselves vulnerable to this epidemic. Our health-care system would not be so overwhelmed right now if it was not already overwhelmed with our preventable chronic illnesses.”

It’s amazing how many people want to eat food made in China, or some other place they don’t care if they poison us.

Try going to the USDA website, It use to have a timeline of all the different “pyrimades”. It start the the railroads. The railroad owners were given land on either side of the rails and controlled all transportation of livestock. They needed the grain to feed the livestock and controlled all of the grain transport. Thended uo with excess grain. They needed to control what people ate in the cities so the they bribbed the congressman to force the USDA to promote”proper diet”. And ther you have creation of the USDA food pyrimide. By the way white flour was a way for the flour to last longer before rotting.

She’s not wrong in the sense it’s hitting Latino & black communities harder since they have more problems with underlying conditions like diabetes.

The underlying health issues do not seem to effect how easy it is to become infected by the C-virus. Statistics certainly show that the underlying health issues have a big influence on whether or not a person dies with the C-virus. These underlying health issues are also the cause of many other early deaths.

When this pandemic is over, many people may be inspired to live with better health and hygiene habits.

Even if you eat healthy you’re not.

Gmo’s can be an issue.

Not to mention depleted vitamin and mineral content in fruits and veggies depending on farming and soil care practices.

Everyone needs supplements of some kind to help.

Seems right on to me. Holy cow our poorest people are now the most likely to be obese. But every wealth level has bloated up some. Supposedly the average woman today weighs what the average man did in 1960. And men have supposedly whaled out even more more in the same time span.

It’s great that we have the tech to keep grossly overweight 65+ folks alive. But yeah it would be also great if they weren’t so enormous to begin with.

High blood pressure, for example, was diagnosed in 57 percent of the New Yorkers who have lost their lives to COVID, and high cholesterol in 20 percent of cases

Does that mean 80% of those who lost their lives had normal cholesterol? So it is an advantage to have high cholesterol?

The top line cholesterol number is not a good predictor of heart health. The ratio is much better. However, homocysteine levels are better than both.

Unfortunately, most doctors treat the overall cholesterol numbers. I'm not sure if it's ignorance, or because of the drug companies.

You can’t even afford the Hydrox anymore. You have to by the Pathmark store brand “Sandwich cookies.” The ones where the filling is 10% chalk.
