Instead of “https”, try eliminating the “s”....”http”

My virus protection said "unsafe site"
I normally heed the warning, but FR is not the type of vehicle to allow intruders into one's laptop (I hope).

"Huntsville, Alabama."
I LOVE Huntsville. And miss it a ton.
(Used to work there several months a year at Redstone, I'm on different programs now).

This is an issue with FR’s site certificate having expired. There’s HTTP:// and HTTPS:// as a prefix for URLs. The S stands for Secure. This requires a valid certificate from a trusted Certificate Authority (CA). Those certs have expiration dates.
Just change the URL prefix to HTTP://, temporarily and everything will work fine.
HTTPS really is the better option, as your pipe to a host is encrypted. Prevents eavesdropping. For banking, it’s a MUST. For FR, not so much. But it’s good practice to make sure to use HTTPS all the time. Jim & John will get an updated certs, and that will correct the issue.

My computer is insisting the site is not secure and that the security certificate is expired. I did log in and it shows the https as having a line drawn through it and an alert stating Not secure

Use http://www.freerepublic.com instead of the https:// version. I can get on FR with GOOGLE CHROME with http://, but not INTERNET EXPLORER.
