CCPVirus Complications

Broadway actor Nick Cordero has leg amputated after serious COVID-19 complications

“The doctor said for Nick’s heart and lungs right now they are in the best condition that they could be,” adding, however, that Cordero was still using a ventilator to breathe.
Kloots said doctors were “taking a look into his right leg” to gauge the bold flow after he had issues with blood clotting and an inability to get blood to his toes. Cordero’s doctors had placed him on blood thinners to address the clotting, but the medications had caused internal bleeding in his intestines, Kloots said.
“The doctor went in there, fixed as much as they possibly could to get blood flow down to his toes again,” Kloots said. “We don’t know what the damage will be. We don’t know if he will be able to walk again. We don’t know if he can walk again, what that will look like.”

Anyone have a good brand that you are positive is not a scam type product in the labeling..when reading reviews you often see people say the product isnt truly liposomal c.

SOUTH AMERICA

COVID-19 in Latin America

Several problems undermine the preparedness of countries in Latin America to face the spread of COVID-19. Talha Burki reports.

“Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has arrived late in South America. On February 25, 2020, Brazil was the first nation in the region to report the disease. Within weeks, countries across the continent had closed their borders and enforced lockdowns. As of April 14, Latin America has registered more than 65,000 cases of COVID-19. Ecuador, in particular, has been badly affected, with reports of corpses left abandoned on the streets. Pandemic preparedness varies across the region and several countries are particularly vulnerable to a destructive outbreak. For example, Guatemala and Haiti have little more than 100 ventilators between them. Mexico has high rates of hypertension, obesity, and diabetes, all of which are risk factors for severe disease after infection with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)…

…”Experts are more optimistic about Cuba. “Cuba is one of the best prepared locations anywhere in the world to deal with an outbreak”, said Wenham. “They have a very strong, integrated healthcare system which can respond the moment an infectious disease is detected.” The contrast with Venezuela is stark. “The situation in Venezuela is critical; when coronavirus hits, it is going to be impossible to contain”, said Tamara Taraciuk Broner, Human Rights Watch, Buenos Aires, Argentina. “Even in hospitals, there are not the facilities for hand-washing with soap.

“...In addition to these problems, Latin America has some of the most overcrowded prisons in the world. Thousands of prisoners have yet to face trial. Brazil alone has incarcerated 773,000 people, one-third of whom are in a pretrial detention. Rates of tuberculosis among prisoners in the country are 35 times higher than in the general population. Haiti’s detention facilities have an occupancy rate of 450%. Countries such as Argentina, Brazil, and Chile are taking steps to reduce their prison populations in light of the pending epidemic. Nonetheless, the prospects for South America’s prisoners are bleak.
The coming weeks will show if Latin America can cope with the increase in cases of COVID-19, but it is expected that the death toll will be high.”

Abstract

Clinical samples collected in COVID-19 patients are commonly manipulated in BSL-2 laboratories for diagnostic purpose. We used the French norm NF-EN-14476+A2 derived from the European standard EN-14885. To avoid the risk of exposure of laboratory workers, we showed that Sodium-dodecyl-sulfate and Triton-X100 must be added to guanidinium thiocyanate-lysis buffers to obtain a 6-log reduction of infectious virus. Heating protocol consisting of 92°C-15min was more effective rather than 56°C-30min and 60°C-60min to achieve 6-log reduction.

INDIA - Hydroxychloroquine

Hydroxychloroquine prophylaxis for COVID-19 contacts in India

“More than a billion Indians currently stand at the precipice of a massive increase in cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). India had shown a staggered course of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) transmission, with 1397 cases diagnosed between Jan 31, and April 1, 2020. However, there has been a recent surge in cases, with numbers rising to 5194 as of April 8...

“...The Indian Council of Medical Research, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended chemoprophylaxis with hydroxychloroquine (400 mg twice on day 1, then 400 mg once a week thereafter) for asymptomatic health-care workers treating patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19, and for asymptomatic household contacts of confirmed cases...

“... mathematical models estimate a worst-case scenario of 10 million cases of COVID-19 in New Delhi, India, alone in the coming weeks.5 In these chaotic times, no health-care system can screen such a large number of healthy contacts for concomitant QTc prolonging medicines, long QT syndromes, or glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency. Even a 0·1% proportion of serious complications would amount to more than 10,000 severe adverse events in New Delhi alone, a number an already overwhelmed health-care system would not be able to cope with. The drug is untested, the benefits unknown, and the risks not negligible, especially at this scale of use. Moreover, the safety of these immunomodulators in people at risk of a severe viral illness has never been evaluated.

COVID-19: endgames

... the hard reality is that the selfless actions of health-care workers will not alone restore the world to normality. Ending the COVID-19 pandemic will take many more months, if not years, so it is time to revisit what we know and make some difficult choices about mitigating subsequent infection waves...

.. Presently, one vaccine candidate is in a phase 2 trial, four in phase 1 trials, and 56 in preclinical studies, but the earliest any might be available is September. The key reason for the lockdowns is to allow health-care systems to cope with a spike of severe cases. However, many systems in high-income countries are still under-resourced. For example, only on April 10 did the UK Government publish a plan on managing personal protective equipment (PPE)...

emergency measures such as sterilising single-use respirator masks with H2O2 could be considered...

...contact-tracing is no longer feasible as a standalone approach. A complementary random, cross-sectional testing scenario where one in three to four people get tested every 14 days for both active infection and antibodies could be considered. This approach would fill gaps in contact-tracing and would allow people with confirmed immunity to return to work, easing pressures on government welfare schemes....

I checked out changa at the links below. Has zinc and copper for antiviral goodies and oxalates for baddies. One case, 72yo gal with liver cancer taking for six months ended up with kidney damage (4-5tsp/day x 6mo - is that a lot?). Blood thinner? (bleeding risk) Avoid if one has autoimmune disease. Kidney stones? It’s risk vs benefit, I guess?

wonder if this guy was set up early as the scapegoat

https://www.jewishpress.com/indepth/opinions/coronavirus-chinas-great-cover-up/2020/04/07/

According to Yanzhong Huang, a senior fellow for Global Health at the Council on Foreign Relations:

“A safety breach at a Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention lab is believed to have caused four suspected SARS cases, including one death, in Beijing in 2004. A similar accident caused 65 lab workers of Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute to be infected with brucellosis in December 2019. In January 2020, a renowned Chinese scientist, Li Ning, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for selling experimental animals to local markets”.

Taiwan warships have been diagnosed with a sudden increase of Taiwan navy deputy commander and epidemic prevention officer changed
http://dailynews.sina.com April 19, 2020 18:53 Global Times

the Rock Ship of the Taiwan Navy’s “Dunmu Voyage Training Detachment” was the first to have 3 confirmed cases of new pneumonia. The warship added another 21 confirmed persons yesterday. During this period, Mei Jiashu, deputy commander of the Taiwan Navy, and Chen Shizhong, commander of the epidemic epidemic command center in Taiwan, had reversed the previous and subsequent statements.

Yesterday, the epidemic epidemic command center in Taiwan announced at a press conference that three confirmed cases had appeared on the rock ship in the “Tunmu Voyage Training Detachment” of the Taiwan Navy. The fleet had docked in Palau from March 12th to 15th. After leaving Palau, it sailed on the high seas for nearly 30 days. On April 15th, the members of the ship disembarked at Zuoying Military Port, Taiwan. Mei Jiashu said at a press conference on the 15th that officers and men of the “Dunmu Fleet” wore masks throughout the Palau event. This statement was immediately beaten.
