Sorry for the vanity, but I am concerned, I work in the hospitality industry, always have. There have always been highs and lows, but this is the low of lows.
With the government mandate of social distancing, I'm afraid that there will be no big gatherings, such as wedding receptions, proms, family reuions, company meetings, etc in the future.
I do catering...not a business owner...but work for a caterer. I’m worried too. You’re not alone. I live in Michigan...yeah...I know. I worry we are never going to be able to work the bigger receptions again which is going to immensely affect my pay...I’m paid hourly plus tips...or a service fee of 15% split between whoever works the parties. I’m worried my boss, the owner will not be able to make as much money off each party.
Was using a bit of sarcasm.
I actually thought of writing some sort of “I wish I could give you a Patton-esque slap in the face” but decided on generating the Batman-Robin meme instead.
"Get ahold of yourself!"
I believe that is likely.
Much if it will return sooner than you think. By July people will fill bars just like before. Maybe a little longer in affected cities like NYC. Weddings will happen by fall, needing more prep time.
Consult history. Worse has happened, all was well thereafter. Chill out, grow up.
The muzzies should know by now that they are just as susceptible to the virus as anyone else. That’s the problem with bioweapons; you can control who you infect but not who those people infect. In Iran a bunch of true believing Muslims licked doorknobs because “Allah will protect us”. How’s that working out for them?

At the briefing tonight — around 8-ish — PDJT said things WILL get back to the way they used to be. This social distancing is temporary. For example, if restaurants seated 150 last year, they’ll seat 150 when this if over. Ditto for sporting events.
80,000 US citizens died of the flu the winter of 2018 and nobody fluttered an eyelash because propaganda media didnt think of exploiting it by celebrating every death.
Those 80,000 died over the entire flu season. We are not even 3 months from the first US CV death and already we have over 37,000 dead with about 2,000 being added to that toll every day. This is far from over.
If this is all a hoax to get rid of Trump why kill all those Italians and Spaniards? They weren't going to vote for Trump.

relax. People are basically selfish, lazy, and self indulgent social animals. The longer this goes on without and the sooner the 95%+ of all people realize they are not going to die from this, the sooner they will get bored and aggravated and go back to doing what they want to do. If any government hack tries to stop them, they’ll change the government.
You too? Heh. I do electrical/instrumentation and automation and I was busy up until recently. Now with the low prices and virus, it has pushed everything back. I also don’t qualify for all the fancy handouts so it’s going to get fun.
I don’t agree with that thing you wrote. /s
We have been given warnings about big govt.....FISA abuse, surveillance of citizens without permission, quarantines, suspension of rights, gun confiscation, etc.
FISA abuse and surveillance of US citizens have been going on a lot longer than the shutdown, since W passed the "Patriot" Act. Funny how many neocons who now protest the infringement of civil liberties now had no problem with the so-called "Patriot Act". The quarantine is temporary and will be lifted once we have enough tests or a vaccine. The Wars on [insert bad thing here] have been going on for decades.
As for gun confiscation do you know in which states that has been happening? Asking for a friend.
I retired a year ago from a good career. I took a year off. This past January wanted to go back to work part-time. Then my husband had a horrible burn accident and he was in hospital ICU BURN unit for 2 weeks. Then weeks of dressing changes and recovery. Finally I felt I could look for work. I interviewed at major hotel as Breakfast hostess. 3 days a week. Great hours. I wanted a job that I could just go in, have it fun, I love to cook and serve people and go home. I was a Sr Analyst and burnt out after 30 years of the brain work.
Anyways, the Manger wanted me. Had to meet the General Manager. The job was pretty much mine but he just wanted to do a meet and greet. The date was to be March 13. March 12 Manager calls and says well we can’t fill the position, events are being canceled, food restrictions, with COV19 and that they hope it would be over in couple of weeks and she would call me or I should call her. Well here it is April 17th. Still everything shut down.
I feel your worry. I think lot of people are going to find very few jobs in hotel and restaurant industry for a long time. Major events in my city have already been canceled for June and July.
I lost some retirement money with COV19 and I hope to recoup it at some point but it is going to take time.
Hang in there, you are not alone.
I posted something to that affect on my FB. How in depression that had rations, hardly any communication, no cell phones, just radio for some. Folks lost homes, lived in tent communities, along rail road tracks, bread and soup lines.
We got TV, internet, Skype, Facetime, Netflex, Hulu, video games, etc.
I am blessed to live during this time vs. depression era.
Bump
That was such a tragedy. That is awesome to hear he is able to remain a Patriot.
