I'm afraid of right now, life will never be normal again.

Sorry for the vanity, but I am concerned, I work in the hospitality industry, always have. There have always been highs and lows, but this is the low of lows.

With the government mandate of social distancing, I'm afraid that there will be no big gatherings, such as wedding receptions, proms, family reuions, company meetings, etc in the future.

I think that we all understand your concern and frustration - I certainly do. Many of us have long anticipated that tomorrow will be the same as today for the most part - maybe a little better when we’re younger, and maybe a little worse as we age.

I don’t know anyone who foresaw the upheaval the Chinese Flu (yes, I said it!) would bring on the world, so with the upheaval comes uncertainty. As much as we rely on our wits, knowledge, education, health, family, possessions, etc., we run the risk of being hurt when any of that is taken away from us.

The good news is that we can’t take it with us anyway, so clinging to the material things doesn’t help us in our life after life. We’ve either gotten to a place where we’ve gotten right with God, or we haven’t. And if we haven’t, we either hope that the afterlife doesn’t really exist or matter, or think that we have time to repair relationships, mend fences, get right with God - however you want to put it - before it’s too late.

I came to a place long ago where I understood that there is life after death, and only 2 choices - an eternity with God or one without him. I can’t begin to imagine what misery an eternity completely separated from any good thing would look like, just like I can’t begin to imagine what joy an eternity completely wrapped in every good and loving thing might be.

I believe that the way (the only way) to secure an eternity with God is to acknowledge that Jesus is God’s own son and that he died and rose from the dead on Easter to pay the price for every bad thing any of us has ever done. It’s that simple - a sincere confession that you’re powerless to save yourself and a sincere acknowledgement that Jesus is the son of God is all it takes.

IT’s not a panacea. There will be troubles in life on earth (whether you’ve made the leap or not, by the way), but you can rest easy knowing that regardless of the physical things of life, you have a home waiting for you in Heaven.

I can’t explain it, I just believe it.

On the flip side, we’ll find a way around this, adapt and be alright.

My only worry is now that radical muzzie(SPIT!) filth have seen what can be done to Infidels with a simple virus, they will begin using similar strains to wage jihad for their unholy caliphate(SPIT!).

Anyone who would not snuggle just because a tiny fraction of the population has caught a disease which most people don’t even see a doctor for...doesn’t have a relationship worth all that much anyway.

Be of stout heart, DallasBiff. Donald J. Trump is President of the United States, not Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his new dealers.

Granted, we have the Democrats and the media who will try to prolong this as long as they can, but at least we have a President who will fight them, even if nobody else does.

Perhaps, but even if that is so, the virus may be self-limiting. Nobel winner and HIV expert Professor Luc Montagnier, who believes that COVID-19 was engineered to include HIV sequences, also projects that the virus will evolve so as to naturally shed the nasty bits that were inserted by Chinese molecular engineering. As that occurs, Prof. Montagnier believes that it will recede into the background and become a minor illness.

I don’t think it’ll last long. I’ve a colleague in Shanghai, an Italian that has lived there for 3 years. He says things are pretty much back to normal - the clubs are open too.

That said, I think restaurants need to innovate and give customers confidence. Places that are buffets will need to do something, I can see people being very wary of them. Other places have a salad bar, they might have to make them staff access only or at least have hand sanitizer at the start (with a BIG sign saying you MUST use it!). Would people prefer servers wearing a mask or a face shield? ...probably something at least. Frequently changing gloves, advertise they are required to wash their hands every 15 minutes...etc. etc. Oh, and CONSTANTLY disinfect electronic payment systems - after each use (I saw Chili’s moved to a touchscreen tablet for payment, you could tell it hadn’t been cleaned, greasy finger prints all over it - yuk!).

I think most people, if they see care is being taken, will quickly forget as this dies down. We ENJOY going out. I think most would be ok with a COVID surcharge for the time being. I’ve been one of the lucky ones and have been able to work from home. I’ve *saved* money because of this, no driving, no eating out, etc.. I’M READY TO SPEND!!
I don’t think I’m alone either.

Chin up!

The fact that it took 20 posts is pretty sad.

Like how many real society-altering things took place the past 150 years, and this is what the OP thinks is really going to change stuff “forever”?

These things will come back. People are people, and they act like people.

This seems like a big thing now, and it is in its way, but a hundred years from now this will be a blip on the radar, and hopefully it will be remembered primarily as the event that caused the demise of the democrat party.

Normal life and behavior will return. It will take time, more time for some than others, but it will return.

We were going to be heading to a hotel in Kentucky this coming week for a five-day stay to do the Bourbon Trail, see a horse race, and have a good time. Due to the collaboration of the democrats and the Chinese and the trouble they caused, we had to cancel. But we’re already planning on doing it the same week next year.

Normalcy will return.

For my daughter’s wedding, I felt like a speed bump on a highway.

People will go out again, there will be an adjustment and more awareness sure... but it will come back.

The key is get rid of all these asshole tyrant governors and quick.

I agree with you..

I think a person's personal financial situation is ruling the opinion on FR...

those sitting home with a GUARANTEED govt paycheck or pension think nothing of all the rest of America..

they see this lockdown as a ho hum event...they're not hurting so they think the rest of us should just be rah rah and blah, blah...

I know too many relatives out of work and not getting paid like govt workers and too many friends as well.....

this may be just ho hum event for some, but it has been devastating to millions of others...

I, for one, am fully ready to kick some ass, and I do mean in a major way.

But I need someone to follow, because I don’t have any experience in organizing a large ass-kicking, and I’m just not the social organizer type. I’m more the ghillie-suit in the weeds from 300 meters type.

Oh how I would love to kick some ass. All the big names would be the guests of honor.
