Like how many real society-altering things took place the past 150 years, and this is what the OP thinks is really going to change stuff “forever”?

A lot of the peeps are experiencing their own personal issues, and they are justifiably concerned about those.
By the way: some sentences can legitimately begin with 'like' or 'so', depending upon context. But it's kind of confusing when one begins with those words as a 'Valley Girl' would do. Your sentence would have been more useful if presented as:
'For instance, how many real society-altering things took place the past 150 years; and this is what the OP thinks is really going to change stuff forever?'
(Not trying to be the 'grammar police'; just trying to help out some friends :-)
I also have a problem with the word 'thing'. I remember an old English teacher, who told me that there is no such 'thing' as a 'thing'. We always need to designate the 'thing'.
