Watch the reaction of two kittens to the cat aphrodisiac known as "Silver Vine."
Video, 3 minutes, 49 seconds
*daily cat/kitten video ping*
If you want on or off this list, please let me know.
Silver vine? I have to get some, maybe it will keep my cat from tormenting me in the morning when we first get up.........
You don’t want to make them junkies. Apparently, Silver Vine is for cats that don’t have much of a reaction to catnip. Two of my three don’t react to catnip, though I’ve never gotten Silver Vine (before this video, I’d never heard of it).

With our current two brother cats, we had to stop using catnip. They got so rowdy they were fighting - dangerously.
Never had that reaction with cats, before.
My cats react like that to catnip-but it looks like the gray and white cat needs to be kept away from the silver vine or she is going to end up in rehab...
Yeah, you want them to get charged up a bit and have fun. Especially with more sleepy, lazy or sedentary cats. If they’re turning into wild animals fighting like crazy on catnip, that’s the opposite of what you want.
I just wish them to stop doing aerobatics onto/off of high, dangerous heights of furniture!
(I’ve been thinking of putting all of our books in boxes, and getting rid of those tall Ikea bookshelves...at least until these guys are older!)
Well, don’t make things too boring for them or they might... retaliate.
Oh, let’s not get into my many scratches, bruises, and occaisional bite.
I’ve always been curious as to why the ancient Egyptians made the cat into a sort of ‘god’.
One theory seems to espouse the notion that cats protected the stored grain from rodents.
I’ve always thought that there may have been something else going on in the thinking of those ancient people.

I meant like dropping a turd or urinating on your bed or pillow. My male cat pissed on my bed twice when he was upset over something.
Perhaps your cat needed a better mother.
Except for ‘puking’ or ‘gacking’ (usually due to wolfing their food, or due to a hairball - and all of which are easy to clean up) I’ve rarely had a cat do anything obnoxious outside of the litter box.
A couple of times, one has puked on the bed. But we have a washing machine.
If you want to live with animals, you have to deal with living with animals.
Well, that was maybe 5 years ago when he did that. Can’t speak to his mother. We rescued him from our yard (took almost a year to do). He must’ve been part of a feral cat colony somewhere and he was captured, neutered and returned (had his ear tipped) and just showed up on our property (terrified at first, but was later starving for attention).
Had a scare several months ago when he was urinating blood and going in different places as a result. Turned out he had crystals in his bladder. Got some special food and he’s OK now.
Even today there have been children who have died of rat bite.
They also will catch and kill snakes and scorpions.
Cat drugs is what I call antihistamines. I’m allergic.
I’m partly allergic to cat fur, but still keep ‘em as pets indoors.
Urinary tract issues are very common in male cats.
It’s not easy to train an adult feral cat. All of mine have come from situations where the mother taught the babies to use the litter box.
I had no problems at all teaching all 3 of our rescued ferals how to use the litter box inside. It seems to be genetically ingrained.
I had a minor issue with one of our two cats prior to our present ones, both of whom had spent their entire lives to that point outside and had to be brought in after a wild dog attack. The then-10 year old could use the box, BUT, she refused to go initially unless I took her outside in the yard (like a dog). Once she realized she wasn’t going to be taken out to do her business, she got with the program.
