The 40% increase is for one agency and the long article gives a clearer picture.
Personally, I want to go on another one this October, health of my wife and I being a factor.
Next year is a long way off for a Cruise Industry that has so much invested in large cruiseships and more on the way.-Tom
People figuring that the crisis will be done by the time next year and precautions will be taken.
I really hope the Cruise lines survive. The Petri dish stuff is BS and can be largely mitigated. Remember that navy ship. The people on that ship are in MUCH closer contact then even the lowest budget cruise ship and not even 10% got infected.
If it can be mitigated, why is noro an annual problem?
And between WuFlu and noro, I’d rather have the former.
Because ship to ship the implementation vary even in the same cruise line. That’s because humans are involved. But on most ships they do a very very good job of keeping surfaces and hands clean.
Must be offering some damn good prices.
The number of noro outbreaks annually suggest otherwise.
FWIW, I don’t stay in huge hotels, either. Or attend massive events. So I’m not just ragging on cruise ships.
Im surprized they dont invest in uvc light disinfection for their air circulation systems
If it can be mitigated, why is noro an annual problem
For example Royal C sends staff out at 3:00 am and disinfects everything. Some lines are better others . After all this if they survive they will get a handle on the problem with screening, sanitizing etc. millions love cruising its big business that employs a lot of people.
Some of them have already started to make offers ,that are money savers for passengers.
I expect because of the competition amongst the cruise lines more money saving offers will be made. -Tom
I'm not going to help you give the bi-blog a click, but isn't a "travel agency" just a desk, a chair and a phone? Even Frank Costanza could do it.
I wouldn’t take a Cruise for all the Tea in China.
Those ships had problems with fresh water holding tanks bacteria (build up) not to mention passenger stomach problems reported etc., well before C-19.
I figure people are just asking for trouble when they decide to get on some cruise line ship. What a gamble and a waste of time.
Noro is NOT an annual problem.....there can be an outbreak at any time. We.ve been on 85 cruises and not had Noro once.
See post #9
Presumably the cruise industry will institute strict screening of all aboard before departure. And have provisions to control any outbreak better than previously when they were fat, dumb, and happy.Of course, passengers do tour waypoints . . .
Right, Most people who say this stuff have never been on a cruise.
See post 9
Like many businesses that might be all it is to some travel agents ,but to others is more complicated
Especially if you get involved with commercial travelers where things change quickly, and rebooking planes and hotels and locations have to be redone.-Tom
Um. It varies ship to ship. These have 3000 crew and leadership matters. So ship to ship, Captain to Captain and medical officer to medical officer.
